I'm buying a new pump action 12 gauge, anyone have any opinions? I've got it narrowed down to the Benelli Nova or the Remington 870, not sure which way I'll go. I know you can't go wrong with the 870, but some buddies are swearing up and down the Benelli is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I've read some complaints that it's too light and 3 1/2 slugs kill your shoulder, and I've read some complaints that it's too heavy. I'd rather have something on the heavy side myself.

They are about the same if the options are comparable, I have several 870's and one Nova somewhere around here.

If they are older units and that's fine I think the Benelli will hold 3 1/2 loads and the older 870's only held 3 inch.

3 1/2 isn't a huge deal to me, I can usually knock down a goose just fine with a 3 and I don't do a lot of deer hunting... but if I have the option available, I'd probably get the 870 Mag which holds 3 1/2s.

Right now I'm drooling at a Wingmaster, those things look fucking sweet.

You can't go wrong with either choice for a go-to gun.

Here is a site I like to look through from time to time, if their is something you have to have you can always have them ship to your dealer at home for pick up. I know Mark from doing some work for his shop some time back. they have things we just don't see and always have a rolling inventory.
