As I've explained before -- anyone can feel free to start a GDT at any time. But if one hasn't been started by the time I see the lineup, I'm going to correct the problem. For you superstitious types, start tomorrow's GDT now.

Vogelsong has gone at least 6 innings in all 14 appearances for the Giants this year. The last pitcher to do that - Atlee Hammaker in 1983.

A few thoughts from last night:

1. The Riot's stone hands will prove to be a problem.

2. More Butter-Churning Mavens, Less Melk Men.

3. Kershaw was dealing, but ran into some good hitters that are getting hot again... as well as some average hitters that I would assume are coming back to Earth, if not for Clayton's filthy out pitches.

4. How many mother fucking Hairstons are out there?! There has to be room in the budget to at least attempt to sterilize that family (scouting and development?). My blood pressure depends on it.

5. I don't know if it was because I was forced to watch the Dodger broadcast in the 9th or Casilla is still a little banged up, but he wasn't topping 93 mph with the 4-seamer, and if he was throwing the 2-seamer, I wasn't seeing as much movement as I'm used to. The curve is still nasty at least 80% of the time.

6. Great to see Voges go seven shutout innings without his best stuff (read: great to see the Dodgers line-up without Kemp)

7. Either Loney is hurt or Mattingly is a dummy... or both. The dude was 6 for 12 against Voges going into last night's game and sat in favor of Juan "How Are Bobby and I Still in the League?" Rivera.

8. Timmy's Welcome Back Party begins in less than 3 hours.

How very comforting. :frown:

So you're saying Voges is gonna give up some dingers during the mid-summer classic and implode against the Cards in the playoffs? ;)

Closest I could come:

Most Consecutive Shutouts Won in a Season

AL 5
Baltimore (09-02-1974 to 09-06-1974)

Baltimore (09-26-1995 to 10-01-1995)

NL 6

Shutout Records by Baseball Almanac

Thanks.......and Baggs provides this:

Andrew Baggarly ‏@CSNBaggs

In case you were curious: The Giants have never held the Dodgers scoreless for 3 consecutive games in SF-era history.

Any three straight shutouts recorded?

Dude, this question is begging the baseball gods to slap a 8-3 loss on us today.

I was wondering about this too yesterday when Loney's name was called to pinch hit. It's not like Rivera has been tearing the cover off the ball. Sure Loney has struggled, but he's 6-12 lifetime against Vogey and hes a LHH while Rivera bats right???

I don't know. Innocent questions designed for personal enlightenment versus predictions shouldn't anger the gods. Now, had he said "BIG TIME TIMMY JIM IS GONNA SHATTER THE RECORD BOOKS WITH A SHUTOUT, THUS BEGINNING A DECADE OF NO DODGER RUNS IN THE PHONE BOOTH," I'd be a little worried. Either way, few things are better than a Lincecum/Billingsley mid-day battle. Come on shadows!

Yeah. I've always liked Donny Baseball despite his affiliations with two of the most hideous sports franchises on the planet, but the more I see him manage, the less I believe his nickname fits.

Today the Giants did what they haven't done in their entire 100+year history--They shut out a team three times in a row.

It still counts but that don't happen with Kemp in the lineup.

That said, even a week ago we were dreading Zito and Tim pitching in this series, and now look how it feels!

Damnit, ya can't believe everything a radio announcer says. G's did pull a 3 game shutout against the Phils in '54, on their way to WS WIN.
