So how much of an impact did Posey's catching have on Lincecum's performance tonight? He looked just like the old Timmy: dominant and a lot of swings and misses.

I didn't watch, but I would assume he felt more comfortable throwing his cheese with Posey back there instead of Chez.

So yeah. I was kind of WAY off on that one. More Tim-Buster please.

Timmy spent less time between pitches. Was not shaking off pitches. Was not too wild with his fastball and when near the strike zone had it down for the most part. But the real big difference was the break on his slider and his split finger. Both broke straight down and not at as much of a diagonal over the plate and he kept them low right at or below the knees. He also had the luck of a glare behind him which makes it harder to see the rotation on the ball. People were seeing change ups as fastballs. One of the reasons he was struggling later on was that they were no longer swinging at the change up because they could see the spin and the pitches were too low.

If he can get his fastball down to the knees and the splitter and the change to shin level more often he will be untouchable.

That's what I'm saying, is this a real thing now?

Who's the biggest threat to the Giants this season? Rockies, Dodgers, or D-Backs. I see the D-Backs as the bigger threat than the Rockies, so I don't mind the Rockies beating up on them right now. I think the Rockies will eventually falter because of their pitching. The D-Backs look like a strong team, but I still think that the Dodgers are the biggest threat because of their pocket books and because I figure that Matt Kemp will eventually start hitting. They'll also get Hanley Ramirez back soon.

this outing was all I could hope for as a Lincecum ounce back start.

The Rox simply don't have the pitching or the D. I am not worried about them.

The Snakes don't have any stars, but neither roid the '10 Giants (as far as position players go). They may be the real competition.

The Dogs will either be AWESOME, or AWFUL. With the loss of Greinke, they had to move all their guys up a position. It is also the early test that this collection of mercenaries needed To avoid. They don't have the locker room to be able to withstand a bad start AND the loss of a major cog. I am not ready to completely write them off, but this the exact situation we were hoping for.

Yeah, we got a real "break" (sorry for the pun) when Greinke foolishly threw his body into hard charging rhino Carlos Quentin. Their starting rotation is a mess right now and we need to take advantage and put distance between us and them before they shore that up.
