Seems to be rallying well in his second inning.
Yeah, he keeps delaying his execution. Good job by him to eat some innings. Might actually be nice to have a guy like him around to do that.

With the 38 degree weather, might be a good idea to let him start the 9th.

OTOH, you can't expect him to throw zeroes up EVERY outing. So far, 2 G, 3 IP, 1 ER, 3.00 ERA. S'OK. Maybe he can keep this up until the trade deadline, and be a PTBNL.

FB hitting 94mph consistently. So the velocity is there.

The fly ball by Ramirez was a 96mph FB.
Maybe not EVERY outing, how abut bout ANY outing?

that last inning was nice. If he had an option, I think he would salvageable with the Giants. I just don’t know that he has enough clock with us. Only Long, Brebbia, Doval and Webb have options among our current pitchers and you have to expect AT LEAST one of the roster casualties when the rosters shrink will be a pitcher. Maybe Long?

I am beginning to think Luke gets the shaft for the other spot.

But that ignores Wade, Longo and La Stella’s spots.

Is this really Sammy Long's first appearance this year? Weird...

Well, who here knows? There could have been some subtle ailment or strain, back or hammy, anything that was preventing his being a success that no one here would know about. Perhaps that is healing. I like that kind of explanation better than simply some variant of "he sucks".

We do know he was hurting. He had tj a couple years ago that ate most of his clock with us.

and I don’t believe I (or anyone else?) ever said “he sucks”. If he is lost, it will be a bad loss. He has value. I think there is very little chance he makes it through waivers. SOME team will have a spot in their bully for a player with his potential.

I think the 1st 3 guys down are Long, Williams and Slater. When they go down depends if those 3 guys on the IL are ready before or after May 1st. By the time the 4th and 5th roster spots need adjusting is when the Giants will have to make some hard decisions (i.e. Beede and Dubon).

Whelp, 7-2 and a five game win streak does NOT suck. On to the Big Apple.

Cobb v. McGill
Webb v. Scherzer
Rodon v. Bassitt
Disco v. Carrasco

should be a good series; the Mutts rotation is good.

It would be interesting to see how Kingman or Deer would be treated in today’s age.
Deer's career slash - .220/.324/.442
Kingman's career slash - .236/.302/.478

How about Adam Dunn's career slash - .237/.364/.490 His last year in the bigs he hit .219/.337/.415 and struck out 159 times in 429 at-bats.

That Adam Dunn kind of line could be what Bart comps to but Dunn was masterful at walks I don't see that with Bart yet. Not too bad for a catcher. Yasmani Grandal is kind of like that, very low average, crazy amounts of walks, and some power.

Talk about embodying the 3 true outcomes though by Dunn.

I think, because of the strikeouts, Dunn was underrated as a hitter. I would have loved to have seen him play one more year and cross the 400 home run threshold and see how the HOF voters would deny him entrance.

Giants' hitters now 10th in OPS (.719).

Giants' pitchers now 1st in ERA (2.20).

That's all MLB, not just the NL.

Are the Giants better than we thought of am I just getting fooled by a small sample size?
They are playing better than I expected but I was never sure what to expect this year ... then again ... I still have nightmares about the 2016 collapse...from the best record in baseball to a sub 500 team Still not sure what actually happened in 2016 but it also carried into 2017..

I think we all just need to move on from ‘16. As I have said many times before, there was something else going in there that we will likely never hear about. There HAD to be locker room issues for that to happen.

No other explanation for being the best team in the bigs for the first half, then, on a dime, switching to the 2nd worst team in the bigs for the rest of the season.
