What stopped him from doing so in 2020 and 2016, and why would he be MORE likely to when old?
2016 was due to injuries and 2021 he put the blame on the condensed schedule....that was the fake season where teams had a month off from the bubble

I'm not saying it won't happen but I kinda doubt it

Exactly.

Wallace was a much better player than Drummond.

Not really.

Both had serious limitations and Drummond is playing in the wrong era.

Now, what is for sure is that Ben Wallace had a far better resume because of the DPOY awards and the title.

And it is the latter that makes Wallace HOF worthy while Drummond is not close.

As much as I hate Ben Wallace, it kind of runs hand in hand. His DPOY trophies, and yes, is one ring, make him the better player...

No, not really.

Wallace was a zero on offense.

Career scoring average of 5.7, 2 seasons averaging over 8 PPG, 1 season over 2 assists per game.

4 all star appearances, 2 rebounding titles, 1 block title

Drummond has a career scoring average of 13.2, 2 all star appearances, 4 rebound titles

Advanced stats like PER, win shares per 48 all favor Drummond.

Ben Wallace is a HOF player because he played on some really good Piston teams. That is the reason. DPOY alone isn’t enough. Even with the DPOY awards, He is probably further off the mark than Drummond if he played his career in say…

Indiana. Or the Wizards

Or any other team that wasn’t a contender.

Because it is the “Hall of Fame” and not the “Hall of best basketball players”.

FYI, you put Ben Wallace in the frontcourt as Jermaine O'Neal and you're looking at a completely different Pacers team than the one you know today...

And to put it generously, Drummond was/is a mediocre defender at best, and his offensive game does not make up for his deficiencies there. That's why Wallace was better.

Wallace was an all time type defender. He would fit in today’s league because he could move his feet and bang with bigs.

But he was literally zero on offense.

Drummond is nothing special as a player and doesn’t do great defending in space, so he is a poor fit for today. But put him in the league during Ben Wallace era and he is a 7-8 time all star with 18-20 PPG and 12+ rebounds a game annually.

I am not saying Drummond is a special player. I am saying Ben Wallace was modern Dennis Rodman without the drama. And while that has a lot of value on a good team, he is a specialist. Specialists are role players.

Those guys only make the HOF when they win rings. Otherwise he is Mark Eaton.
