2014 Season Preview Playoff Committee Vote

Similar to the Mid-Major thread, I'll list the resumes and you pretend to be the committee and vote for the 4 teams you believe will make the playoff

ONLY VOTE FOR 4 TEAMS the poll will be public so I can see if anyone votes for more than 4.

Here will be our list of playoff contenders based on the results in my season preview thread, I did include some long shots, SEC Championship really stirred things up

Playoff Contenders:


Florida State Seminoles 13-0(9-0)

Good wins: Clemson, Notre Dame, @ Louisville, North Carolina

Losses: None

Notes: Won ACC Championship over North Carolina

Michigan State Spartans 11-2(8-1)

Good wins: Nebraska, Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa

Losses: @ Oregon, @ Penn State

Notes: Won Big 10 Championship over Iowa

Ohio State Buckeyes 11-1(7-1)

Good wins: Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, Navy, @ Penn State, Michigan

Losses: @ Michigan State

Notes: Didn't win division because of loss at Michigan State


Oklahoma Sooners 11-1(7-1)

Good wins: Kansas State, Baylor

Losses: @ Texas Tech

Notes: Big 12 Champions


Baylor Bears 11-1(7-1)

Good wins: Texas Tech, Kansas State

Losses: @ Oklahoma

Notes: Didn't win Big 12 as a result of loss @ Oklahoma

Oregon Ducks 12-1(9-1)

Good wins: Michigan State, Washington, Stanford, UCLA

Losses: @ UCLA

Notes: Won Pac-12 Championship over UCLA who they lost to in the regular season

Alabama Crimson Tide 12-1(8-1)

Good wins: @ Ole Miss, Texas A&M, @ LSU, Auburn

Losses: South Carolina

Notes: Lost SEC Championship in upset to South Carolina

South Carolina Gamecocks 11-2(7-2)

Good wins: Alabama, Texas A&M, Georgia, Missouri, @ Clemson

Bad Losses: @ Vanderbilt

Other Losses: @ Auburn

Notes: Upset Alabama to win the SEC Championship


Auburn Tigers 10-2(6-2)

Good wins: @ Kansas State, LSU, South Carolina, @ Ole Miss, Texas A&M

Losses: @ Georgia, @ Alabama

Notes: Didn't win division

when it came down to the playoff teams I was more critical about what I considered a good win, no team with less than 8 wins is considered a good win.

So far I'm still deciding, Florida State and Oregon are shoo-ins

the SEC really messed things up though, Alabama only has one loss but didn't win their conference, but is likely in


then for the final spot I have to consider


South Carolina who did upset Alabama for that SEC championship which is huge for a potential playoff birth, but they have a loss to a fellow playoff contender, and the worst loss of anyone on this list


Auburn beat South Carolina at home like I said above, and had a very difficult schedule, they had 5 very good wins, but were upset by a Georgia team that rose late in the year, and a revenge game to their rival Alabama.

Oklahoma who has a nice win over Baylor, a Big 12 Championship and only one loss, but the Big 12 outside of the top 3 was a big dud, and Oklahoma has the 2nd worst loss on this list an upset loss to Texas Tech

Michigan State would have been an easy pick had they not gotten upset by Penn State late in the year, but they still have a great collection of wins, including at home over Ohio State.

Ohio State meanwhile has a nice collection of good wins, the best probably being at Penn State, and they only have one loss, but that lost cost them not only the Big 10 championship but also the division, might be tough to overlook that.
