2014 Class

The last three years we had exceptionally good classes until we starting losing key recruits, this year is no different losing our best prospect, Elijah Hood. So far it's decent but if we lose will it unravel. The whole problem is we keep losing the very cream of our recruiting class, the five star recruits have gotten cold feet. This is where you separate decent coaching from outstanding coaching when you dont/cant land all of the big-time recruits alot of other schools seem to get. It all comes down to coaching up the players. I thought the Irish had/have it, but I'm starting to wonder now. This is BK's 4th season (as well as Diaco's also I believe). Coaching is where the rubber meets the road. I almost wonder if all of last year's successes have maybe gone to a few peoples' heads ... ? ? ?

Remember, we'll be getting Golson back next season. So that's basically a big recruit.

Yeah but who knows how he will look. the last 2 times a player came back after being off a year hasnt done well. The last player I can remember doing well after taking a year off was Arnaz Batltle and he came back as a WR not a QB.

Yeah it's making me nervous, this is looking like Kelly's worst class.

Ill be happy with some stud DL an OL. We seem to have the skill positions set, WR, RB. LB(to a point). Would love some big, fat, strong, tanks to run behind. It starts at the line....

We do have some good OLmen coming in. I want a Floyd type WR to come in. Also a Top TE.

They are after a couple good TE's including the #1 according to ESPN, They have some WR's in this class in Holmes and Brent and I would assume they'll add another. They really need to add a NT and DB's a couple CB and a Safety would be nice as well. RB I'm not as concerned with but landing one wouldn't hurt either.

I feel the opposite. The Irish have done well recruiting the lines on both sides (9 of the 16 current commits are on oline/dline). It's the skill position players they are lacking with (3 with the current class and 4 if you are including LB). And no one from last year's class has done much yet except Smith and that's only if you consider LB a skill position.

I look at this totally differently. There are so many teams that are not rank near ND or have not ranked near them for many years but consistently are in the top ten. It is getting the key players that this coaching staff fits into the program thats places us in the top 10.

Looking at these numbers we are better than most of the top 10 ranked teams. I really do not see the anxiety over this if you were Texas or USC yes but we are still right up there and actually with talent we have we should do better. All top teams lose recruits for lots of reasons most of the time it is because they over recruit top talent knowing some of these kids are not going to play. ND is now in this situation add that plus the academics and weather we normally have to be better at recuiting than most.

I don't think player development is strong at ND. Rees isn't any better, Hendrix is still a dud; WE ARE ND AND WE DON"T HAVE A GOOD QB! Tuitt and Nix look like they regressed in the offseason. A lot of our great players were very good to start with. Floyd and Te'o were special players as freshmen. With the recruiting classes we have had, the reason we are unranked is because the coaches have done a poor job of developing our talent. Tuitt is sticking around because his draft stock has dropped. He may want to reconsider because he may not be any better next year.

Notre Dame needs to start landing some more big time recruits, every year lately we've been losing out on atleast one or two top players and this has to change. Hopefully a big win today helps with getting a top tightend and top safety. Has anyone else heard any recruiting developments? We used to have a lot of good information on recruiting when I posted on CBS, any new info is welcomed. I see we just got a commit from Isaiah McKenzie 5-8" 160 WR out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
