Rosario Dawson should have received a nod for Top Five.

I have a grim suspicion Boyhood will win best picture.

Best Picture will come down to Birdman, Selma, Boyhood & The Grand Budapest Hotel...
I'm going w/ Birdman, or Boyhood for the hardware.

Best Actor is a toss up between Michael Keaton & Eddie Redmayne.

Best Actress will be Julianne Moore.

Best Director should be either Richard Linklater or Wes Anderson.

These are movies that have very little box office appeal.

I've seen nearly all of the nominees. My personal picks:

Best Picture: Whiplash
Best Director: Damien Chazelle, Whiplash (not nominated; like Linklater (Boyhood) out of nominees)
Best Actor: Miles Teller, Whiplash (also not nominated; of the nominees, I'd go Cooper)
Best Actress: Julianne Moore, Still Alice
Best Supporting Actor: Ethan Hawke, Boyhood (This is by far the strongest category. Hawke, Simmons, and Norton all put together better performances than the nominees of the other three acting categories)
Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette, Boyhood
Best Original Song: Everything is Awesome, The Lego Movie
Best Original Screenplay: Boyhood
Best Adapted Screenplay: Whiplash
Best Cinematography: Birdman
Best Visual Effects: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Best Film Editing: Whiplash

I think they were saying on the news today like the losers get like expensive gift bags, and the winners just get the statue.

Yes. When you can beat the NFL, you can beat the Oscars.

stopped watching after JK Simmons won the supporting actor Oscar.

have been pleasantly surprised to see tweets that Whiplash won more, though.

They all get the gift bags, and the IRS includes a 1099 form. Even if they refuse the gifts they still get taxed on them. Companies have to pay the Oscars 5000.00 to put something in the bag. Big money to give away something.

I was flipping between the UFC live fight night on FS1, and the Michigan State at Illinois hoops game on BTN. I just caught a replay of The Walking Dead and Talking Dead on AMC... I like how AMC broadcasts The Walking Dead approx. 4 or 5 times late Sunday night/early Monday morning because I don't have a DVR.

JK Simmons is almost on a Bob Saget level as far as acting goes.

Real glad Boyhood didn't reap more for its gimmicky shit than Gravity did last year.

Guess I need to see Birdmam when I get a chance.

Lol,.......me too,....I can't wait to see a 60-yr.old dude walking around in drooped skivvies.......sigh,......from what I saw (clicked over 4-times) the host was god-awfull compared to Ellen degeneress's funny show last year.,....it's kind of hard watching these oscars when I haven't seen the movies yet,...one great thing I saw on TMC, the great Maureen o'hara got an ~honorary~ Oscar this year at 94-yrs. of age...!

American Sniper was barely even a good movie. Cooper's performance was great, and almost made it worth paying $12 to see it at the theater, but not quite.

If he wins an Oscar for his performance, I'll be happy. He's excellent.

Anyway, I'd like to see Whiplash win more than just supporting actor, but I don't think it's going to happen.

I appreciated the craft behind Boyhood, and it was certainly ambitious. Not a great movie, IMO, though. I think it will win a bunch.
WOW. I guess it's been awhile. Last time I actually we t to a theater, it cost me $10. For myself and my wife.
