Looking at the team's situation after the Letestu deal... I got in the mood to play GM.
Defense (7) and goalies (2) are signed.
For the most part, using the signed players, the lines will look something like this.
Kunitz-Sid-RW1
Cooke-Staal-Malkin
LW3-Letestu-RW3
LW4-C4-RW4
Free Agents:
Dupuis (1.4 mil). Possibly could resign, but more than likely no.
Talbot (1.05 mil). Another tough call. Leave it up to the real GM. PK and can play a number position and lines. Good team guy. A little expensive maybe.
Rupp (825K). A 6'5'' 31yr old on ice presence. With following depatures, a yes for him to fill LW4. 2yrs 825K.
Godard (750K). Gone.
Kennedy (RFA 725K) Brings a tone of energy. Creates scoring chances. Plays well with any one. Does not capitalize (but how many 3rd liners ARE goal scorers, but he creates more than most 3rd lines), makes some stupid mistakes. Fills the RW3 perfectly. 20% raise for 2yrs (870K)
Asham (700K) Gone
Adams (550K) Another tough call. A reliable 4th liner/PKer, adnd right handed, altough Letestu is a right handed center as well. But he is cost effective for what he brings. I say yes for 2 yrs 600K to fill RW4.
Comrie (500K). Gone
Connor (550K). Another tough call. However, I think he may play himself out of the Pens price range.
Ine the end.
Kunitz-Sid-RW1
Cooke-Staal-Malkin
LW3-Letestu-Kennedy
Rupp-C4-Adams
LW3 and C4 can surely be filled in house or resigning (Dupuis RW1, Talbot C4, Jeffery/Tangradi LW3). With the savings and cap probably going up, the Pens may be able to afford a 2.5-3 million dollar winger for crosby, if the need to.
