Phillies avoided arbitration with Mayberry (1.587 million dollar deal) and Kendrick (7.6 million dollar deal) but were unable to strike a deal with both Bastardo and Revere, who will likely both need an arbitration hearing to sort everything out.

Amaro is reportedly willing to give Bastardo a 2 million dollar deal with a plethora of bonuses in the contract- one of them being a strict workout regimen involving Tony Bosch shooting steroids up his ass every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

No they are not the reason the team will suck. The fact the Amaro sees them playing significant roles on this team is (along with almost every move he has made the last 4 years). It is true each move is just one bad move by Ruben, but if you add up every bad move it comes out to a lot of bad moves and a bad team. Combine a constant reliance on has beens and never will bes on the major league roster, a depleted farm system, and little chance to play everyday for the youth that have actually shown anything in the minors and the Phils are set up for a tremendous stretch of terrible play. But hey, if Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins go against history and somehow become top 3 at their positions again, the Phils might reach .500 this year.

JMJ should have been dumped. Mr. K cannot hit anymore. But we have no other choice than to hope the guy hits .250 this year.

I agree with the youth statement. Amaro makes it impossible for the the talented youth to make their way. He blocks them out with older players that he buys. He has no idea on how to use young talent. Just let a few of those guys play a full season to see how they develop. Amaro does not like Asche at 3rd, but Ryne said he wanted him back for 2014. Plus, Amaro could not find a 3rd Baseman on the cheap.
