Evening everyone...

Impressive post WLK.

I have always thought I should decide tie breakers i'm not involved in, well because I did see the Bambino in person.

Seriously though, you all have seen me pissed off now a couple times, the most pissed I have ever become on here is when I thought people were destroying the integrity of the league, that has always been whats most important to me. There have been times I thought about excluding myself from drafting just to be the decision maker, but dammit! The drafting is just too much fun.

I do think the rankings need to go and I understand where Jeffro is coming from saying nobody in the league should decide ties but it honestly has to be that way, nobody on the outside has an interest in our drafts and although I know some people around the hoop that are stand up people I just don't think they would take this as seriously as we do and not put in the time to help decide the correct winners.

Not sure about being standup guy. For any reason if I can help you guys I will.

One other thing about what Jeffro suggested 1vs10 and 2vs9 and so on, I guess i'm not so much against that as much as I don't understand it. I think it's much more fair to do it 1vs2 and 3vs4 and so on. You should play the team the drafted closest to you IMO. We could always go back to pulling names out of a hat if you guys want... Although I never used a hat it was usually a coffee cup.

I like 1 vs 2, 7 vs 8. seems fair. Interestingly enough, the two teams in the finals of the baseball mock were 1 and 8

We can take 1 more ILB and 1 less DT if you plan to run a 3-4 D, just so everyone knows

To do away with ties I believe we should take what UK said a step further.

We will still do a ranking system but it will be much different. I believe to really break it down we should rank each position on a scale of 1-5 with 5 of course being best. In other words you would simply look at each team one at a time and assign a value to each postion
QB
RB
TE
WR
OT
OG
C
DE
DT
OLB
ILB
CB
FS
SS

Send all the numbers to me and I will add them up and that is what we will use to decide ties.

I believe it's best to do this prior to the games starting that way nobody will be tempted to rank the team they play against just a little lower.

I also believe we would have to go back to drawing names out of a hat to determine the games to again prevent people from knowing who they play prior to submitting their rankings.

I still need to think of how to handle byes if we have anything other than 8 or 16 teams.

I like all that. As to the byes, I'd do it the same way any tourney is ran, use the first round to get down to 8 teams. If there are 12 teams at the start, then 8 teams would play, with 4 byes, the 4 winners play the byes. If there are 10 teams, 4 teams play, 6 get byes, the 2 winners and 6 byes are the 8. To me, you draw the draft order out of a hat, and if 4 teams are needed for the wild card round, then whoever picked 1,2,3 and 4 play that round. The reverse order helps even it out to a slight degree, but as with the last baseball draft, there aren't any Barry Bonds, Lou Gehrig's or Willie Mays after the first few picks. Guys that are close maybe, but not the same. I'd agree to play an extra round right now for the #1 pick, I bet mist would:noidea:

So depending on how many teams there are lets say 12... teams 9,10,11 & 12 get the first round bye then the winners of the other 4 games makes 8.

OR, 10 teams means teams 5-10 get the bye teams 1-4 play?

I'm good with that as long as everyone else is...

Yep, in a 10 team 1,2,3 and 4 would play, the two winners would join the 6 byes in the quarters. You can do this with any number of teams, even odd. Say there are 11 teams. Top 6 teams would play, 5 teams would get byes. The 3 winners would join the 5 byes, back to 8. I like this because it's always a 1 on 1 matchup deciding winners

Once we announce draft positions everyone will be allowed to trade, some might want a top pick and not care if they play the first round others might rather have that bye even if it means a lower pick.

Exactly, I wouldn't mind playing the first round game either way, if you can't win your first rounder, you're not winning the tourney anyway

Let's get started. I have my sheets prepped from 1990-2004, still need 2005-2014 draft sheets.
