to be honest with you i think we have probably seen the last of big name free agents hitting the open market.
It's possible but I'm also curious to see if this is a phase. There's a lot of "pay guys massive money to stay" contracts being thrown around right now, we're not sure if they will work long term yet. I think the league will monitor teams like Chicago to see how it works out. Pitt is kind of stuck in this spot where Crosby and Malkin are good enough to constantly get them to the playoffs but they lack the depth to make a deep run. Same could happen to Chicago. If that trend continues I think there may be a different approach to contracts and locking guys up like that.
