125 lbs Matthew McDonough gets beat out

He is a 2x National Champion and a 1x runner up, and as a senior he doesn't even reach the All-American status. I don't see anything about sickness or injury. HWT Bobby Tedford injury defaulted out.

Not sure if anyone knows but McDonough wrestled with an apparent pectoral injury.

That would explain a lot! Too bad he was hurt at the end of his senior season. Would have loved to see him leave with another national champion title under his belt.

I feel for him. Telford getting hurt cost us points and he would have probably ended up in the 3/4 match..maybe higher. Evans getting hurt cost him a good finish as well. Iowa will be fine, but still a young team. Burak will be a force at 197.

Very tough to match what Coach Gable did at Iowa. Many Iowa wrestling ties coaching around the country. Would love to see high school sports in the state of Iowa change its format. Would love to see high schools be 'wrestling' academies, or football, or basketball, etc. These academy schools would be allowed to travel for games/competitions/etc. I'd be all for academic academies first...sports academies second.
