You have 4 stations playing 12 hours of games, if you move one of the games back 2 hours, how doesn't that run over into the next game?

at this point he's just being dumb for the sake of being dumb.

If you call trying to find a possible solution for a problem a lot of ppl have dumb then sure. You know, might be better to try think of possible solutions then just just bury your head in the sand and let things go on like they are.

Btw why are we moving games back 2 hours? You only move the games to 1 (EST) that are in the central time zone. Sp they start at 12. Thats moving back 1 hour.

Obviously the point goes over your head. There are a finite number of channels that show games, if you move those games back you must move the games behind them back or those who want to watch the 3:30 games will miss the start every week.

As I stated, you can either move back your central time zone games to 1 or have them play later in the day. Either or can work. The tv companies CAN make it work. As I said thats their job. If they wanna keep ESPN 1 and 2 on the 12 3:30 schedule, easy, just play an eastern time zone game at 12 on both channels to start the run. Even if its a good one. It could easily be done.

Noon on the East coast. What does everyone think about them? Stoops doesn't mind it but the University of Oklahoma has had enough of them.

sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-d...-134417684.html

officials aren't too happy with all of the 11 a.m. starts.

"We were extremely disappointed to learn today that the television network had set our West Virginia game for 11 a.m," Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione said in a statement to the Oklahoma Daily. "As illustrated by 100 consecutive sellouts, our fans are loyal and resilient, but we understand completely the hardship this creates for them, especially if it happens too often or consecutively.

"On their behalf, we registered our concern with the Big 12 office immediately this morning and are working closely with the conference staff to address this problem and minimize early starts in the future."

The only two games at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium that haven't been 11 a.m. starts in the seven-game span were against Oklahoma State in 2014 and the season-opener against Akron this season. The Akron game was televised via pay-per-view rather than a part of the Big 12's television contract.

Oklahoma's dissatisfaction with 11 a.m. kickoffs isn't isolated. Minnesota's governor tried to ban the practice at the end of 2014 and an Alabama state senator brought up the topic in a legislative session last week.

The school realizes the necessity of the starts, however. The television contracts the Big 12 has are an important source of revenue for the schools and more games on television equal more money and more exposure. But you can also understand Oklahoma's frustration; the Sooners are a blue-blood program and would like to have more starts in the afternoon and evening.

“I do have a problem with it,” Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said when asked about the topic on Monday (via NewsOK.com). “I'm sure our administration does and fans do. We'll express that to the league. Hopefully, everyone can have a fair amount of early and late kicks and mix it up a little better.”

I used to love 12:00pm kickoffs back before I used to tailgate because it meant the game happened sooner in the day. But then I started tailgating and now I hate them. It means there's only a few hours to tailgate before games. I much prefer the 3:30 starts now. I could see why a team would like it because that means less sitting around for them.

I can't believe this argument is still going. Write the networks, write your congressman or build a fucking bridge.

Just read that Texas and Baylor haven't had a single home 11 a.m. kickoff since 2013. OU has had seven.

I'm not asking to do away with the noon games.

I'm just asking that my team never plays in them ever. Is that too much to ask for?

Win more and you'll play less of them.

That's my take. Oh, and don't live in flyover country...that would help too.

Eyeballs on TV sets and all that.

OU football: Why OU prefers to avoid 11 a.m. kickoffs

Amen!

While the Sooners can only push back so much regarding Saturday kickoff times, the athletic department has resisted other pressures from television networks.

“We will not host a Thursday night collegiate game here,” Castiglione said. “We just won't. We've said no a lot more times than people ever realize.”

11:00 AM games are a pain in the ass. I get the feeling that Joe Castiglione has been too passive over the past couple of years in his dealings with the Big XII brass because he likes to get along with everybody. Texas hasn't had any 11:00 AM games and OU's had 7 over the past couple of years. I know the donor class has been raising hell, as well as the fans and merchants, so apparently Joe's getting off his ass and finally making a stink about it. Joe's been too comfortable with the way things have been in the football program, people......just like Bob Stoops. It takes a tsunami of complaining to get either of them to get out of their comfort zone. Now let's see if they still have what it takes to make a OU a leader again instead of just one more member of the herd.
