Shit. Yeah that's actually probably a good idea lol
True. Also no reason to make a prediction before then either in the event there is a close race.Trade deadline acquisitions aren't usually huge game changers.
The Blue Jays were 1 game above .500 on August 1st last year. They finished 24 games above .500.Trade deadline acquisitions aren't usually huge game changers.

Deadline acquisitions can be massive game changers.
The fact Texas, Boston, Houston and the Dodgers have some of the deepest farm systems in the majors and are all in tight races for position I'd say there's ample reason for pause.I didn't say they never are game changers. I said they usually aren't game changers. Not often enough that I'm not fairly comfortable making some armchair QB playoff predictions.

David Price and the 2015 Blue Jays say "Hi."
I already acknowledged last years Blue Jays, who went and got Price and Tulo. I also stated that I used the word "usually" and not "always". Most teams are out looking for a reliever or one more bat. With the advent of the wild card (and now the 2nd wild card) fewer teams are sellers in-season, and there's just not as many blockbuster deals. Even when big names move, they don't always have the huge impact people expect them to have.
I'm not saying trade deadline guys NEVER EVER impact a race, I'm just saying it's not the normal order of business for a big trade to suddenly change the course of a season. The 2015 Blue Jays happen from time to time, I just don't see that as a normal thing.
That's a lot of words.
The point was, we're three days from the trade deadline. It makes sense to see what shakes out before making predictions.
If you disagree, I'm happy for you, I guess.
