what actually is Gigging?

I know what it means in Louisiana to gig a frog, but what's it mean in Texas?

It started back when we played TCU in the SWC. I think it started back in the 50's. It was "What are we going to do to the Frogs?" "Gig 'Em Aggies!"

Also Gig is a military demerit and A&M is a military school and some of the "Old Army Ags" claim it comes from there...

His muse did not fail him as he improvised, borrowing a term from frog hunting. "Gig 'em, Aggies!" he said as he made a fist with his thumb extended straight up. And with that the first hand sign in the Southwest Conference came into being

I remember when we were at training for ROTC, Aggie cadets were everywhere, and their favorite thing to do seemed to be to put their hands together making a finger-gun, and say, "Whoop!"
