Kelly is pretty good; as in, 8-5 is pretty good. Kelly has been outcoached several times in his tenure at ND (even 2012). Guys like Cutcliffe can field a team of nobodies and prepare them to take down the Irish in Notre Dame Stadium. We have had way too many bad games against shit teams and we...
Man, it has been a long time since I have felt good about Notre Dame football. Kelly needs to recognize that he is the problem and work to improve his coaching.
Our defense has held opponents to scoring only 12 times out of the 13 times they were in the red zone. I wonder if that one stop was because the other team fucked up or our D stepped up.
BVG won't be fired until all the wheels fall off the bus. We have a stretch of easy opponents that will make the D look better and BK will say the D is improving. If the D gets scorched by one of the next 3 opponents it could be possible BVG gets a pink slip.
We would be 3-0 if we had the North Dakota Sate coach. Our team is not trashy, BK has brought in winning talent and we win games because of the talent. We lose games because of the coaching.
I believe most ND fans wanted BVG to go last year, but BK kept him, so BK shares blame for the defense we have. A great coach would not have kept BVG. I think BK is overall a good coach, but not great. BK is possibly an elite recruiter but we get too many trouble makers and quitters. BK is poor...
You are not a racist when you hire minority employees, but you are a racist when you fire them. Clearly, the color of Willingham's skin was the only reason ND fired him. Willingham got his 5th year at Washington and lead the Huskies to a winless season, their first in 119 years. Do you think...
I have no faith in BVG. Injuries have hit the defense hard since BVG became DC but I haven't seen much promise from the ND defense since he took charge. This year, we improved in defensive YPG and PPG allowed, but our defense has been pathetic when it comes to disruption and turnovers. ND has...
My bad on the link, Craig. I hastily tried to find a source that said ND had the most injuries and did not really read it. ND has had some bad luck with injuries and certainly more bad luck than the average team.
Kelly has improved ND and he is a very good coach overall, not great, not elite, and Shaw has had WAY more success. I don't think Shaw has any players left over from the Harbaugh days. I would like to see your source that states "back to back years where ND had the most starters out for injuries...
Stanford and ND have similar academic restraints and standards but Shaw has been vastly superior to BK. Since becoming head coach at Stanford, Shaw has won 3 PAC12 Championships and 2 Rose Bowls. Not including Rose Bowl and PAC12 Championship games, Shaw has beat 7 Top 10 teams and another 9 Top...
Texas 5-7
Virginia 4-8
GT 3-9
UMASS 3-9
Navy 11-2 (Did not beat a team in final Top 25)
USC 8-6
Temple 10-4 (Weak American Athletic Conference, lost to every decent team they played and beat cupcakes)
Pitt 8-5
Wake 3-9
BC 3-9
It was a nice season. We have certainly had many worse seasons over...
