This is what it should have been and would have been if Larry Scott wasn't such a fvkn idiot. Both Okie schools asked to join the PAC back in '12 and like the idiot he is he had to make Texas part of the package. If he would have taken the Okie schools it would have forced Bevo's hand to either go Indy or join the PAC.

OU was just using the P12 as leverage.

I know what was reported initially, looking at what happened afterwards its clear OU preferred to stay and was using the P12 offer as leverage.

That would make for an AMAZING Pac 12! I'm still holding out hope that Texas will come to the B10 though! Add Texas and another team in that territory (or even Notre Dame), and then the conference is done growing. :suds:

It's black and white with zero grey area. The two Okie schools asked to join the PAC back in 2011. The PAC said they could join if Texas came with them. Texas insisted Texas Tech came with and the PAC said ok. Then the PAC insisted that Texas share the LHN revenue, Texas said no way, and the PAC said this deal is done ... no expansion.

That's pretty much the way I remember it. They were talking about this on XM radio this morning. Seems the current thinking is neither the PAC 12 or Big 12 can get a TV package anywhere close to B1G or SEC numbers. Not even close to ACC numbers which is well below the other two...unless they somehow come up with a package deal for both conferences. Don't know how that would work but that is what the talk on the street is regarding TV deals...not necessarily conferences combing or realigning.

The discussion originated around the disparity in what the revenue is bringing...not necessarily the revenue itself. Started from a tour of spring practice games and morphed into facilities. In brief, the arms race is being won on a grand scale by both the B1G and SEC. While a few isolated schools in other conferences are keeping up in the arms race, the schools as a whole in the ACC, Big 12 and PAC 12 are falling waaayyyyy behind.

Examples were used saying what the PAC 12 schools are doing or some of the Big 12 schools have done, pale in comparison to what is currently being done at some of the "lower" echalon schools in football in the SEC like Kentucky and South Carolina. (They did toss out Oregon and Okie Lite as anomalies because of Uncle Phil and T.Boone)

Also... no more oversigning... 25 maximum now... I suppose we can call this the SEC rule?

:thumb:

I'm in favor of the spirit of the rule, but I am worried it will mean less total kids get scholarships, and more kids end up getting their scholarships pulled. Not sure how it will work if say SECU has already had 25 kids sign and two more big 4 stars want to sign, they just yank the schollies from a couple of 3 stars?

How does it effect walk-ons? If someone walks on in the fall and works on scout team for a year then a scholarship opens up and the school wants to give it to the walk on can they still? Or would the walk on count against their 25?
