Exactly. I want KC to force a trade to Sf. First, it will get us off the hook of an overpaid contract. 2nd we should gain back more leverage in draft pick compensation. So it helps the Redskins if the trade happens.

Kc's ask is going to be for 30m annually b/c he knows he has us over a barbell. I think the best option for us is to trade him now. Get what you can get and move on.

We will get ZERO leverage. Because simply put if the Niners are the only place he will go.... the Niners can tell us take this 2nd rounder or we can afford to wait and watch you pay him on the tag and all you will get is a 3rd in 2019. We wont get the #2 in this years draft.. if we do we will lose the #17 in the trade.

The Skins fucked up and there is no way they come out of this on the right side. They either pay Kirk exactly what he wants, or they end up getting the short end on any trade. Period.

We have leverage b/c the 49ers run the risk of losing him next year in FA if they really want him. They can lock him up now at a cheaper rate than next year. So there is two reasons why they would do it. As far as draft picks go. They could give us a 2nd round this year and a 1st next year.

Now listen and understand.... we screwed up. Mainly because the owner thinks like the fan base. If we were SMART we would have locked him up long term last year at the 18-20M he was asking for. We didnt, now we have no leverage. The Niners are not going to pay him what he wants AND give up two picks any more than the Broncos did with Bailey.

Kirk is either going to be the highest paid player in the league for us, or the Niners are going to get him for a fraction of what you were hoping all along.

KC was asking for more than that last year. Even if its a 1 next year. Or two #2's in 17 and 18. Sf can get their guy. If we get lowballed in draft compensation then we will just play KC on the 1 year tag. Then new scineros will happen in 2018. Why would the 49ers take that risk?

See what you miss is that the moment we tag Kirk, we are on the clock. Which is why WE wont get nearly what you hope. Because we can either take what the Niners offer, or they have the time to wait us out. If we arent going to pay him, we need to move Kirk.... Kyle has options.. we dont mainly because we put ourselves in this position.

By the way, Cousins was asking for $50M guaranteed and $20M a year average last year. We offered im $15M a year average and $25M guaranteed.... So less than Oswieler by a long shot.

Dean is under the impression that if we get the #2 pick we some how WONT take a QB. Sad really that he doesnt realize Dan Snyder is more about players that can fill seats than win games. By the time the draft rolls around either Watson or Kizer will be touted as the greatest QB prospect since Jesus Christ and the only question will be will the Browns draft said named savior or will the Skins have a chance to make up for the RG3 mistake.

While I agree that Cousins has all the leverage, there is a larger problem with not signing him now. Both from the perspective of them comfortable that they have a QB that can get them the ball and successfully direct the offense, but also from the perspective of cap money. How much do they have, how much will KC eat into it and how much will be left to sign our own and other FAs. The Cousins signing (or non signing) has a domino effect on the building of the rest of the team. Also, if we go into the draft and only have KC under a one year deal, with the real possibility that we lose him in 2018, do we use a high draft pick on a QB to groom as his replacement?

Basically, the FO fucked this thing up and now we have other issues that will arise from their mismanagement.

According to fantasy, we will get the #2 and another pick for Cousins and roll with Colt McCoy... AND finish better than we have the past two seasons.

Best part is, by Monday we will have rumors of what the Niners are offering, which will also mean the Skins are considering it.

The only other option I see is the Skins give him the exclusive tag... which will piss off 40% of the fan base according to the poll Breed posted.

The 49ers will not take Allen. there last 2 first round picks were dlineman. Maybe another team jumps in the trade conversation. I don think the 49ers will wait until draft day. I think something will get done over the combine weekend. It may not be #2 overall but I can see multiple picks happening.
