But no one in their right mind expects the NFL and the NFL officials to be able to get this right.

Then again by the way the rule is written it is illegal. Going to be another year of frustration on illegal hits and what's a catch and what isn't :mad2:

The thing the NFL can't seem to get (or does and doesn't care) is that hits like the Shazier hit are just unfortunate realities sometimes. I'm all for trying to clean up unnecessary head shots or blatant spearing, but not only can you not regulate it away but at some point when we we just say they knew the risks?

The way this rule is being enforced tonight I think I may unsubscribe my NFL Game Pass. This will certainly kill the game of football as we know it.

Just got done watching my recording. This rule is going to be a HUGE fucking problem this year. Still not as idiotic as the college rule on targeting, but it's bad. It's going to decide a few games.

This fucking rule is a joke, Competition committee must be doing circle jerks when they meet up, because anyone with any clue about football should know this rule won’t work ... When an offensive guy lowers his head and a defender also does, who is the foul on ? Also by physics alone you can’t tackle without lowering your head, and every offensive guy is gonna do what’s natural, and lower his head... Just remove the fucking helmets NFL if you’re so hell bent on stopping helmet collisions ....

I saw somewhere that the league is letting the refs be "flag happy" with this rule in the preseason so they can look at these plays to get a better feel for what should be penalized.

I guess we'll see opening night if that's the case.
