I kind of agree with you though... Kind of... but the thing you miscalculated is value, and how the league perceives a player... dynasty leagues love youth, and you can trade them much easier than than the mediocre veterans...

NFL likes replacing expensive vets with cheap rookies, so it smart to take some fliers with rookies. Most everyone's roster is 80% vets, 16 spots and between 2-4 rookies per team. Some of these mediocre vets will still be available off of the WW, so see if you hit a gem with a rookie or two and if they turn out to be duds, well you can always drop them for what ever looks more promising on the WW.
