This comment shows me how much you pay attention to college football. Balanced teams have always won the national championship in college football. Clemson has had some real studs on D the past few years. I'm surprised a combine guru like you didn't know that.

@Edisto_Tiger :dhd:

Here you go:
Total defense #8, scoring defenses #10

Total Defense | FBS Football Statistics - NCAA.com

They were know for Watson cmon man. yes they had good players on d but they also gave up a lot of points. In your previous post is just proves that anything can happen.

So a top 10 defense is not legit when Cook runs all over them?

Or are you just running a popularity contest here?

its legit but they were known for there offense. Im not doubting Cooks ability. You know the draft is a crap shoot and anything could happen. Late teens is the best I think Cook gets drafted at. I know you disagree but that is where I see it.

Yeah you are not doubting his ability but you are Clemsons D because they were not as popular as their offense.

And Cook running all over Clemson wasn't all that because Clemson was known for their offense...

Got it :harbs3:

you are getting off track here. If Cook goes top 10 you can gloat all you want. If he goes mid to late first like CM then I can gloat.

AP...Jamal Charles...there is still high talent available in FA at the RB position. Why? Because RBS are not worth the future costs. Get a bargain with an old guy or a late round rookie.

Or go with what we have. We were 9th in the NFL YPC. We just chose not to run. As for pass catching, we simply don't run those patterns with our backs.

Ap and JC have major medical issues and want good money to play. We don't run those patterns with our backs b/c we don't have the backs to run those patterns. CM would open a lot up for us. Gruden likes these types of backs, I wouldn't be surprised if he went this route.

The reason why that stat is misleading is because we had one of the least productive Redzone ground games in the league. And becaause of this, we were also very predictable in the Redzone. Fact is, we need better than Kelly and Jones at the RB position. Now we can reach on a D-lineman, Because while I think there are some good D-lineman who will be there at 17, I question if they are worth the pick at 17.

We can take a more productive all around back within the first two rounds. Or we can keep saying, well we dont really need to spend any resources on a RB because we did ok between the 20 as far as running the ball goes.

The McCaffery love machine is in full force I understand. It happens after the combine.

Thing is.. As a Rams fan, all I've had to look forward to the past decade and a half is the draft and a dog could draft better than they have. All those RG3 picks we got from yous and still a pathetic team the Rams are. Look at the players they fell in love with after the combine. Greg Robinson #2 overall pick -- all he did was run block at Auburn 80% of the time and the Rams put him at LT in the NFC West :L, Tavon Austin they traded up to get a 5'7 160 lb WR, Jared Goff - jury is still out but last year's QB class was pretty pathetic and Rams got desperate.. Previous years it's been no different. Add in the fact that I'm a FSU fan and they are in the top 3 as far as schools producing NFL talent and I watch a helluva lot of college football.

It's all the same sickness. Falling in love after a combine in which the players perform 1 day of skills with no pads on, while forgetting what a player did for an entire season. It's why alot of the bad teams continue to pick in the top 10 every year.

Let the Hype continue

I do like the McVay hire and that he brought in Wade Phillips. Sounds like he's a winner and has a good offensive mind.

Clemson has been a defensive team for as long as I can remember. Our offense has only started clicking over the past 4 years or so, when Chad Morris showed up.

Our red zone woes had nothing to do with the backs. It was play calling.

You ask if a DL will be worth the pick at 17...I ask if a RB will be worth that pick?

I personally believe a LB or DL will be more worthy of that pick than a RB.

Didn't CM set the all time all purpose yards in college football?

These guys have lost their mind for comparing CT to MCCaffery. Mccaffery does so much more.

OK, so tell me what McCaffery can do that we cannot ask and more important GET from Thompson?......I just posted both profiles.

You have it baaaaad! Do you have an I heart CM tee-shirt yet?

The Pac 12 mine as well be the Canadian football league.

When is the last time a Pac 12 won a natty? Wanna know why?

Watch college football and stop being a stat/combine geek. at "CM" going from the Pac 12 to the NFL and running between the tackles.

And my thinking is, we need better talent at all three positions. If we get to 17, and the RB on the board is a better over all prospect than the DL or LB, I would not be upset with the RB pick. As for ILB,

1. We traditionally dont value the position that much.
2. I dont care if we get the best ILB in the draft, if we dont have a GOOD D-line its possibly just a waste of a pick aside from having another Lavar Arrington type who will make multiple pro bowls while the defense continues to struggle.

CM is a better route runner and receiver than CT. Plus more reliable in the running game. I think its crazy to compare the two. CM is the better player
