Foster arguably the best ILB in this draft was/is a top 10 pick. Some experts have/had him @ #5. When scouts, coaches and GMs grade players they use red flags as a precautionary measure when evaluating the player as a whole. The first red flag was his shoulder surgery. Then he had this blow up at the hospital that got him sent home from the combine. His agent just sent out a message that Foster apologizes and has set a time 5-7 pm I think it was on 7 March in the LB room @ Alabama for any teams that would like to get to know him.

Super talented no doubt but are these red flags going to drop him in the draft? If so how much and would you take a gamble on him?

Sources: LB Foster sent home from combine

Prior to reading that link I would've picked him in the top 5,
but the quote " I have to sit back, relax and really think about what I want"
I would now drop him for the simple fact of that quote....

lol good luck with that. no way he lasts until #32
Who knows maybe Cleveland gives up # 12 for Garappalo? Even "if" that happened BB likey trades # 12 for future picks:gaah:

In today's game, a linebacker 110% has to love football.

I wouldn't touch him in the top 50 picks unless he was the type of player that eat, sleeped and bleeded football. Odds are too high that a guy only halfway in will quit the first time he gets concussed.

I also found it strange that he was pretty directive about when he'll be available to meet with teams:scratch: not sure what to make of that?

He might drop some just because if it comes out this is a pattern of behavior some coaches might think he is difficult to reach or some jibberish. I doubt it'd be much though. He's kind of what to ILB what Tunsil was to OL last year. He could fuck up pretty bad and still get drafted at a decent spot. As for the actual player- any time I see such an aggressive and willing player at ILB with his tools, there's a great deal imagination can do. Range is there, size is there, and to be blunt he's pretty viciious. If there are other issues like diagnosing holes- I think that can be coached to a degree- his problems aren't hesitance or just awful instincts from what I can tell. If there was no QB worth drafting for the Chiefs- I would love to pair Foster with Wilson going forward. I doubt that has any significant chance of actually happening however.

when was the last time the patriots traded up from the bottom of the 1st round to pick someone in, or near, the top 10?

i think you're trying a little too hard to see an "issue" that really isn't all that much of an issue.

The reality is he is a top 10 player based on what he has done on the field. If its little stuff then that shouldnt change things at all. If it ever becomes big then its a total dealbreaker imo.

I can't recall. Heck Goodell usually takes care of that for NE:lm:

There is the pending shoulder surgey that needs to be taken into account. Especially for an ILB.

Thats a Bama thing. They run their guys into the ground with winning.

Hard to judge but it means Id have him behind the elite prospects and ahead of the normal 1st rounders. Wherever that is.
