Fun fact: The guy who beat out John Elway for NFL Executive of the year 2012 - got fired this year.

Ryan Grigson edges out John Elway for exec award

Did anybody ever have such an easy path to Exec of the year award? I mean he won it pretty much since he drafted Andrew Luck 1st overall. I mean easiest pick in maybe NFL history. Elway on the other hand took the Broncos from one of the least talented teams in the league to maybe the most talented team in the league in just 2 years. That 2012 squad really should have won the Super Bowl. Nick and I were talking and both agreed that might have been the most talented team overall during the Manning years. Both offense and defense were top-5 units and special teams had some explosive plays.

That sentiment regarding the 2012 team as been floated around here in town since the 2013 Super Bowl disaster.

Another fun fact: Only two organizations in the NFL have had 3 different league rushing champions. The Cowboys just tied the Broncos this year. - Bronco rushing champs were - Terrell Davis - Otis Armstrong and Floyd Little.

Running the football is a Bronco tradition.

I've had a few situations come up in my life the past week that have been a bit stressful for me (in a good sort of way). I was offered a GM job of an indoor football team in Wichita, KS and a director of player personal job near where I live in Cedar Rapids, IA. I don't want to give up my current job so I will get more details to see if this is something I can do while working my current job as indoor football is only seasonal and doesn't have the benefits that my job has or the pay. But it also is a great opportunity for me and something I have always wanted to do.

Great news DC - I thought you were going to be boring again.

If anyone I've ever known fit the self-made professional football team General Manager - it is you Scott. No question - son - you have paid your dues. I hope it works out for you - with your connections - that team would be stacked.

It is something I would love to do, but I just don't know about the career change because of the business. If it was an NFL GM the decision would be obvious but in indoor money isn't so good. Ill find out more details soon, but I am at least interested to see what it all involves in terms of financials and benefits.. I just really like the job I have now and it will be hard to give up unless it is something I can do from home which might be possible.

One idea - would be to look at the personnel policies of your employer and see if you can request a leave of absence - thereby saving your job for something to come back to - after you took a dream season with this team. On the other hand maybe you can to it at nights on Weekends. @Draft Crazy

Yeah I thought about talking to my boss, the only thing is my REALLY busy time is right around the corner and from my department I am really the most depended on person during this time for state testing because I know all the procedures and processes so I would be putting them in a very bad situation. I am going to talk to the team first and see if there is anyway to perform the duties from home, the expectations etc.

Good for him. Been a very loyal person in the Broncos' organization through quite a few regimes now. Had opportunities to go elsewhere but stuck with the Broncos.

Anybody else see that the Raiders moving to Vegas is in real jeapordy now? Their biggest donor pulled out and the 2nd biggest donor is thinking about doing the same thing.

Has anyone in the past 5 years parlayed a job in the the arena league into a job in the NFL or college or whatever would be your life's career? Could be a stepping stone to a dream career.

Anyone think Vance Joseph looked around for his first few weeks as a Bronco HC - and then decided to go into John Elway's office and request an assistant Head Coach?

Looks about right. Saw somebody say they think Mark Davis is going to now commit $1 billion to helping make sure the stadium continues on in Vegas. The guy doesn't have close to that kind of money. That is why he needed investors to make this work

They could run this horse after every Vegas TD - and call him Moe and the crowds could scream - "WE WANT MOE" after every score. Sigh - the NFL of my future.

When things get boring - watch this. NFL athletes telling each other bad jokes. Darius Stewart ask Aqib Talib "Why don't Zoo animals take tests?" Ans: "Too many Cheetahs." It's infectious.

Elway sorta did.

But there's a handful of players that have done so; I'd believe that football is football and talent evaluation is the same no matter what league you're in.

That to me is one of the biggest differences between Elway and John Lynch getting his new job. Elway had that experience of actually running a team. Yes it was a different level but he still built it up to being a championship team. Have to think that experience has helped him with the Broncos' job.
