Jake's still not right yet, some of the up tempo helped him dial a little back in but he needs his swagger back for them to continue this run.....

I wouldn't be surprised if they went more up tempo from the start on Friday just to get Jake into a rhythm and get his confidence going right away.

Petersen said they went uptempo to take ASU's defense out of their ability to react to our offensive alignment. It was for a specific reason for that defense. Cougs probably don't blitz and do as many exotic things on their pass rush as ASU does. Hell, no one in the conference does anything like what they do on defense.

I really haven't watched enough of the cougs D to get a feel for how they play the run or pass. I only know by stats they have a much improved defense over prior years. I wouldn't expect a hurry up offense if the cougs aren't really changing their plays based on what they see in our setup because hurry up also takes away our ability to change protections or change plays at the line and that limits what they do. Yes, I agree there are times that making it a bit more simple for Jake seems to get him out of any funk he is in, but they very much like having the ability to make those changes at the line as a normal part of what they do. I wouldn't expect them to change unless they are struggling and use it to take the cougs D out of whatever adjustments they are making.

That or that Oline gets a healthy dose of coaching bitch at them this week to get them fired up a little more for a better running attack as well....

Offensively for the last two weeks those have been the main issues for them, SC took away the outside run plays, ( speed kills) but even against ASU it was a little slow start again. Granted got a freshman starting at right guard, and couple other young bucks up there, but this late in the season the "noob" title has to be warn off and these guys should be considered "vets"...

I watched them against Colorado and I was impressed. ( with both teams actually) Cougs defense will keep them in games, there not big up front, but attack, and they tackle really well. LB's at times had a clear gap once the boys up front occupied the Oline....

I believe if the Dawgs come out prepared to run the ball between the tackles, and quick slants they can move down the field....

Wentz didn't have a great day at the office either. He had a lot of high throws and both of those picks had to be on him. They did well in the first quarter, but after the defense adjusted it just seemed like Wentz wasn't on the rest of the day and the hawks did a pretty good job of taking the run game away and forcing Wentz to beat them against all that pressure they brought. Of course both teams were forced to pass more down the stretch because both teams lost at least two RB's in that game. I mean Seattle put their backup QB in at RB they were so low on options. Pope came in and got two carries for 3y and got injured. Jesus man. And Prosise had one 72y run and like 3 of basically nothing and he's probably gone for the rest of the year.

Yeah losing Sproles yesterday kills Wentz! He's like a security blanket for the rook...
Of course Chip Kelly famous draft pick Achlor once again came back and bite them in the ass with the TD called back... Talk about a kid that hasn't lived up to the 1st round grades...

I'll trade you for Kearse straight up if you want a husky on your field.

Hell anything is better then a wide out from SC, not bagging on SC just fact, Keyshawn was the last wide out to make a difference on a NFL field
Mike Williams had a season

Kearse makes like one or two spectacular catches every now and then and the rest of the time he's basically never open and is on the split end side one on one most of the time. Wilson's passer rating when throwing to him is 74. His rating throwing to Baldwin is an unbelievable 140.

I wish they would put anyone else but Kearse out there most downs. I'd trade a ham sandwich for him if you need him that badly.

Yep, in prior years our only interest this time of year was praying the ducks didn't reach any good goals so their fans wouldn't be quite as insufferable. Our conversations had already shifted to recruiting with a smaller interest in whatever crap bowl we were going to.

Now we have a real battle on our hands. UW has opened as 6.5pt favorites to win the Pac and put themselves in position to possibly reach the college football playoffs.

Just crazy.

I was kind of torn yesterday. I think it is fantastic what Colorado has done this year, and it really is a program that you can cheer for, but deep down I wanted the rematch. I honestly feel if you are trying to prove the program is back on the national scene then you should be wanting another shot at the only blemish on your record this season.

But beating the 8th ranked team in the nation isn't half bad either....

Been quiet on the recruiting front. Recruits are visiting during games, but don't expect much activity to finish off the class till January.

Gary Andersen brought in 20+ recruits for yesterday's curb stomping of the Duckz in the Civil…1 4* committed on Friday…oh my how the winds-O-change are a blown now.

Gratz on winning the Norte' Huskies!
