Problem is how replaces them. Outside the top 6 teams, there isn't a lot of difference between 7 and 20

Not saying it would have. I'm saying it gets uglier going forward for AtM. They lose to LSU for sure, and Ole Miss is a toss up now without Kelly.

I have no issue with Washington at 4 but it does make you wonder how TAMU had a better resume than Washington last week but OSU doesn't this week. If anything I'd say OSU has a substantially better resume this,week than TAMU did last week

It certainly isn't consistent in its message. Washington should have been 4th last week but if you're going to put them 5th based on schedule vs TAMU there is no way to say the Huskies have a better resume than OSU. It makes no sense. Irrelevant really other than trying to avoid Bama in the semis i guess

Kind of shows why more than 4 teams in the playoff is a bad idea as well. Deciding that 7th and 8th place team would be nothing but trouble.

I don't think it's a coincidence the 8 team playoff idea loses steam the closer we get to the playoffs.

Fair point. I still like the idea of taking all p5 conference champions and a couple at large though. That kind of fixes that issue. Obviously there'd be bitching and moaning for the at large spots, but at least there'd be a clear path to guarantee an in, win your conference.

I would not base anything off this year. Some years 8 will be too many, some years it will be perfect. Worst case is you get extra meaningful football games.
