Browning might be one of the best QB's in the country, not just the league. He's blowing away former NFL QB's from our past.

A lot of former QB's comparing him to Montana in terms of style and progressions. Not a cannon of an arm, but deadly accuracy and very fast reads and crazy good decisions.

Cannot give enough credit to his development for being where we are right now.

And I'll give Smith props for getting him there. Just don't let wally see me say that.

Softy did an interview tonight on his show with Jake's high school coach who is now the QB coach and passing coordinator at Eastern Wa. Hell of an interview.

Mahler actually asked him about the likelihood that Browning stays for a full 4 years and his response was kind of jaw dropping. Said they hadn't talked about it, but he really thinks he's in it for the full 4 years. If you listen to the rest of what he had to say about him it kind of makes sense, but damn. This kid just might be your Heisman winner next year and looking at a possible #1 overall pick. He'd have to have a screw loose to not take the money and run, yet this kid isn't wired the same way most other QB's his age are.

Coach said Jake would hang out in the coaches office at lunch every day, even in like February, studying film. He pretty much was all about football all year long. Always deflected any praise to his teammates and was never up or down no matter what was happening in the games.

He said his first game in high school he threw 10 touchdowns. He was a sophomore. In his second game they were down around the 5y line and they called a pass play with a crossing route and a sort of dig route. It was designed to hit the cross. Jake threw the dig. They asked him why and he explained in detail where the safety was, the ref was going to be in the way, and a couple of other things. Coach thought he was making up shit and said he thought he had seen the cross open. Went back and watched the film later and found Jake described that play dead on as if he had reviewed it 5 times before describing it.

They knew then they had someone very very special. The game is very slow for him. He sees so much more than most can and throws with anticipation unlike any QB I've ever seen.

This kid is so damned special. He leads the league in QB rating and if the season ended today it would be the all time mark. Who currently has that record? Russell Wilson. This kid is that special.

And there is an outside chance (at least in my mind) that we will get another two and a half seasons of watching him perfect college football quarterbacking at Husky Stadium.

Excuse me while I go seek medical attention. I'm planning on having an erection that's going to last a lot longer than 4 hours over that thought.

:suds:

As much as I hate to say it, if Browning does accomplish all that by his junior year then he should go. I will definitely enjoy watching him play while I can.

Absolutely. As much as I respect loyalty and commitment, it's just the reality we live in. There wouldn't be much in it for him to come back, minus maybe finishing his degree since he didn't redshirt, but he can go back and do that any time if he ends up wanting or needing to take that route.

Not Browning's best game in terms of completion percentage today, but four overall touchdowns will deservedly overshadow that. With Ohio State losing tonight, next week's game in Utah becomes even bigger for the Huskies. Should be fun.

Trap games are like the one we just had where you can overlook it after a big game and before another big game. I don't see Utah being a trap game. It's just a tough game because it's on the road against another team with a solid defense that is now 7-1. And it'a CGD game which means the national ESPN guys will be doing interviews and production pieces on the some of the team. That brings other distractions and pressures.
