The 12's can be rest assured that their jerseys and flags are safe for another 5 years!

Who cares. You can talk hypothetically all you want. It doesn't change the fact that most everybody outside of Seahawk fans think paying a college for their tradition is silly.

Why do you care anyway. If you like it, own it and stop trying to convince everyone else that it's not lame.

I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. None of these traditions are original, including a&m's and the Cards. But if you've already been doing it for decades and made it a part of our game day experience, you'd pay a small stupid fee to keep it going too. Deny it if you like, but you would.

I'm not denying it. It's something that is completely out of my control and quite frankly, I could give a fuck less about the siren. For the most part, I have my game day experience down to a science. Suds, food and hit my seat right after the starting lineups. Been to pretty much every game since the late 90's all that fan hype shit is only fun to me when I bring a newb to a game because they haven't experienced it 1000 times like I have.

I completely agree. Going to the games, the 12 thing doesn't mean anything to me personally, unless they have an iconic person raising the flag like Griffey.

But the teams perspective, I totally get it. It's something you've done for a long time, you're not going to stop just because it costs a few bucks

I have many jerseys in my closet of former Seahawk players that are no longer playing in the NFL. They collect dust. A #12 jersey is always in vogue even though you don't think so.
Bash away.

Not really bashing, just wouldn't get one myself. I actually don't wear my jerseys that often but I don't see a problem with throwing on the old Chris Warren or Shaun Alexander.

I still get a chuckle out of seeing a pro team pay for a college teams tradition. I know Seattle fans don't like to hear it, but it is pretty silly.
There is no tradition in common. That's a strawman offered up by dumbasses. Nothing more.

There is no song they use in common, nothing the fans in the stands do in common, or anything else. Those are traditions, not numbers.

Seattle has used the common term 12th man since the 80's. As did several other pro and college teams. The way over the top aggies did a trademark on it decades after it was commonly in use. They neither created it, nor adding anything new to it.

It's no more a unique trademark than the 19th hole restaurant, the 10th frame restaurant, or the 12th man in soccer used overseas. We just have a twisted legal system in this country that allowed such stupidity.

But you just keep on hating on it. Just makes us use it even more.

FWIW, I don't think I've ever called myself a 12, nor have I ever owned or worn anything with a 12 on it. I have probably refereed to Seattle fans as the 12's less than 5 times in my life. I know some overuse it, but I don't know anyone that fits that in my circle of friends.

It's still funny to see so many get so worked up over it though.

You might down the road. Seahawks were using it for 30 years before a&m somehow patented the number 12. If Arizona blows that horn for 30 years and UW wants a piece because it's the same sound as their air horn, will Arizona just ditch the tradition?
I'm not sure I follow. A&M had that motto for 100 years. I'm not sure when they had it copywritten? I also don't recall the Hawks using it for 30 years:scratch:maybe I'm missing something here:noidea:

Seattle retired the number 12 in 1984. A&M got the copyright in 1990.

A&M began using it in 1922. I believe they started the copywrite process once they discovered Seattle trying to market it? Regardless 1922 was a shit ton long time ago. Most people would agree copywrite or not it rightly belongs to the Aggies

But they were not the first and by the time it was trademarked it was quite common. Not just in our football, but other sports with 11 players namely soccer.

I get holding onto unique traditions, but a more or less generic term isn't that. There is no doubt at all that their use of it goes farther than others and it has deeper meaning. That alone doesn't make it unique. It just doesn't.
