Market for 49ers tickets and PSLs is “plummeting”

The 49ers once again are proving that winning draws fans to the games, and that losing drives them away.

According to C.W. Nevius of the San Francisco Chronicle (via SportsBusiness Daily), the market for tickets and Personal Seat Licenses has been “plummeting.”

Currently, a total of 1,825 PSLs (consisting of 4,601 seats) are available, with dozens priced below market value. When the new stadium opened, tickets were completely sold out and a waiting list existed for PSLs and season tickets.

Per the report, some fans that financed their PSL purchases over 10 years are thinking about “stopping payments and walking away.” While the 49ers would have the right to enforce the PSL payments, Nevius raises a great question: What would the 49ers do if a large number of PSL holders simultaneously walk away? Sue all of them?

Regardless, things are looking suddenly ordinary for an organization that, not long ago, was moving back toward elite status.

Thats going to happen when your football team is the third best city in your area and run by idiots.

Didn't they build their new stadium way out of town too? Making it harder to get to the games probably wasn't the best idea.

will it work? Will management budge?

I was really hoping a few months ago that Eddie DeBartolo would have seen his nephew at a holiday party and stabbed him to death with a shrimp fork, but they apparently missed each other.

I think if this season is like last (and it's looking like it might), they're going to have no choice. Niners fans are pissed about what's being done to their favorite team.

Spoiled 49ers fan base can't handle the tough times.

No. What we can't handle is shit ownership. The stadium sucks in its overall experience so THAT isn't a draw and now, thanks to the boner we have running the organization, we have gone from elite to shit virtually overnight and it is 100% his fault.

49ers fans have always been front runners and won't support a losing team. Rams fans belong in the same category.

So you won't support your team unless it's a playoff contender. You're a typical 49ers fan.

So a team in Califorina stinks and the fans aren't buying tickets. This can't possibly shock anyone. It's exactly why no team should have moved to LA. It's not just Cali though, Florida is the same way. Front Runners/Bandwagoners.

Now that I'm back in the states, I plan to see some games. Easiest one will be The Patriots at 49ers. Not a horrible drive from here and the Patriots stand a pretty good chance to win.
Tickets should be pretty cheap and readily available......

Location isn't an issue. There's a huge fan base in the south bay. The problem is the team sucks. If the team didn't suck they wouldn't have a problem.
