Except when they play on the road, then they fit right in the AFC East "competitive caliber". Getting HFA for the Pats is more important than the other three AFC East teams getting a NFL QB.

Option 2 is the reason Option 1 is happening with consistency

Pats have been great in many of the last 15 seasons

But they have NOT been great in EVERY of the last 15 seasons

Its the division that that makes it appear so

And in those "off" years for the Pats, in a tougher division, they would have not sailed into the playoffs, they would have found the road a lot more difficult

The Pats have been a solid organization ever since Brady got there. I've never said otherwise. But it's totally fair to question if they'd still have just as many wins and division titles if you moved Cleveland into the AFC east and put the Pats in the AFC North. It's a totally different level of competition. You seem to be taking the obvious fact that the Dophins, Jets, and Bills have been bad to mean that the Pats haven't been good. Nobody is saying that, only that playing against those three teams 6 times a year has helped. It would help any team. This should be easy to grasp.

No one is questioning that the Pats suck or are bad.

The point is they have a shot at the division (thus the playoffs), even though they get hit by injuries, have a bad draft/ free agency, etc., because the division is bad.

No doubt. Not saying the Pats are bad by any means. They are a great team, one of the very best ever. It's still true though that your division isn't and hasn't been good except for you guys. This isn't a slight against the Pats it's just the way it's been. Not the Pats fault the other teams can't get their shit together.

They do well because they are very, very good, and they deflate footballs, but mostly because they are very good. Your division is still bad though.

The Patriots have been really good. And the Jets, Dolphins, and Bills have been mostly crap. I mean, the Bills haven't made the playoffs since 1999, the Dolphins haven't made it since 2008, and the Jets since 20010. Even the Raiders have been to the playoffs since the Bills have!
