There are many differences but who would have thought the much, much smaller Wilson would be tougher than "superman"?

Both Cam and Russell gave up sack/fumbles to the Denver defense fairly recently.

Cam jumped away from his ball like it was a rattlesnake, IN THE SUPERBOWL, down by 6 with under 5 minutes to play in the 4th quarter to "avoid injury". WTF?!?

Russell jumped on his fumble and then FOUGHT Demarcus Ware at the bottom of the pile. "Me and him were going at it, I wasn't going to let him have it," Wilson said with a laugh of his tussle with the 6-foot-4, 258-pound Ware. "I kept telling him, 'You’re not going to get this ball.' He said, 'I’ll wait all night,' and I said, 'I’ll wait all night, too.'"

I'll take Russell "last name" Wilson over MVP Cam Newton any day of the week.

I think the primary difference, at least from a cultural perspective, is that one player is black and the other player is white.

I don't think there's any question that Wilson has a lot more heart and fight in him than Newton does. It probably comes from being undersized and a later draft pick.

Newton is a front runner. He's most effective when he can race out ahead of you and then hold on. But you punch him in the mouth, as Denver did, early and often, and he folds. You could tell he was hurting from the hits he was getting, and it seemed like he didn't want to stand up to the Denver defense and do what he does best. He seemed hesitant to run in the second half (in fact, I'm pretty sure all of his rushing yards were in the first half). There was a play late in the 4th quarter where he got hit by Wolfe right after he threw and he threw a little fit because there was no penalty. He couldn't take the pressure anymore and wanted the ref to bail him out.

You contrast that with someone like Brady, who was getting bludgeoned all game by the Broncos, and to his credit he stood in there and kept throwing and throwing, even though he knew the hits were coming. Brady went down in defeat, but at least he went down swinging, which is more than you can say for Cam.

The biggest problem for Panthers fans is that it doesn't seem like Newton learned anything from this. Rather than admit he should have gone after the ball, he came out with the terrible excuse that he was afraid of getting hurt. Rather than acknowledge he acted like a child in the post game presser, he excused it him just being a poor loser, and made it worse by saying if you show him a good loser, he'll show you a loser. But on the same token, if you show me a poor loser (like Cam), I'll show you a loser. Good loser, poor loser, you're a loser either way. And Cam was a loser on Sunday, both in the game and his actions after it.

That was the thing for me too. It's the bloody Superbowl and you are only down one score late in the game. If you aren't going to lay it on the line at that moment then when will you ever?

This is how bad things have gotten for you Wilson apologists? :L

What did I apologize for? I'm a Wilson fan, but not an apologist. I really don't care that Cam won the MVP, I'd still rather have Wilson lead my team and I bet most other fans would too after watching Newton's performance last Sunday.

Exactly. This isn't a pre-season game in August, or even an early season game against a non-conference team. If Denver recovers that fumble, they're already in field goal range and the game is basically over. I don't care if you think you'll break every bone in your body, you go get that football or die trying.

I can't imagine how a guy like Thomas Davis, who's out there playing with a broken arm, felt after hearing Newton say that.

You can pick whoever you want and I will happily take whoever you don't pick for my team.

Both are great young QB's. Which one is better probably won't be settled once and for all for at least another decade.

Great point. I bet he was pissed. I think Cam lost of credibility with his own teammates after not trying for that fumble.

An apologist is a person who gives an argument or defense of someone or something, it has nothing to do with apologizing.

Bridgewater is getting better. And at least you don't need to worry about Teddy acting like a clown on the field 10 times a game.

I think an apologist is someone who knowingly makes excuses for someones flaws or actions. I never did that for Wilson.

That's only because teddy doesn't make 10 plays a game worth celebrating.

Ok, but that's not what an apologist is.
