I like the Samardzija signing better. Longer for a younger pitcher/arm for just slightly more AAV. Both cost a pick.

I support this signing by the dogs.

They just acquired Chapman from the Reds.

For 2 prospects. I would have hoped it cost more than that. Make the dodgers use up everything in their farm system.

Reports from LA are that the trade did NOT involve their 3 best prospects, Seager, Urrias, or De Leon. As a Giants fan, that SUCKS as I was hoping it would cost all 3. :D

What I CAN tell all of my homies on this board is that the report in LA is that if this trade is complete and Jansen is asked to set up Chapman, Jansen will not be happy...to put it mildly.

Both are FA at the end of the season....looks as if the Dodgers are trying to stockpile 1st round picks.

NL West making some moves. I expect the Giants to sign a big bat now.

I prefer Heyward to Cespedes because I feel as if Heyward is a smarter player then Cespedes and plays more consistently OUR brand of baseball. Although Cespedes' bat is more explosive, I just feel we get better value with Heyward.

Agreed. Heyward's defensive abilities would play very well in San Fran. Great clubhouse guy, only 26 years old. His gap power would lead to a ton of doubles/triples there. The other option I like better than Cespedes is J Upton.

Upton's surly reputation leads me to believe that he wouldn't be good for the clubhouse. Again, prefer Heyward.

Trade for Jackie Bradley Jr. and get Heyward. If Pence can stay healthy then we would have a competent outfield.

Two problems. First, what are you willing to give up for Bradley Jr.? Nothing comes free. Second, there is still a huge hole to fill in our rotation. Who do you plan to have in the rotation other then Leake? MadBum/Leake/Peavy/Cain/?

as in trying to close a deal? Don't give me a hard on before noon...that kind of blood loss to my brain this early in the day is not healthy for me.

KNBR talk.

Of course, less than a minute after I post this, Hank says he has not heard word-one about the Giants and Heyward...

Living in LA, I miss KNBR....although I can surprisingly pick up the signal at night on my way home from work.

I've been able to pick up their signal occasionally in Orange County. While it is pretty weak when I do pick it up, it is enough to be able to hear the broadcast weakly.

You should listen every day, in case you miss something.

Source?

The $160-$200 million question is: Can he really play CF (he played a total of 182 innings there for ATL in 2012-2013)? Would Pence move to LF (my guess is that he would)?

LF Pence
CF Pagan
RF Heyward
4 Blanco
5 Mac Dub

Yeah, that would work.

Been talked about on KNBR. They were referencing one of the big guys with a tweet (I forget who they were quoting). However, just as I posted that, Shulman went on their air and said that he had not heard anything about the Giants and Heyward.
