I don't see OLB as a game changing upgrade either. People often reference the year Orakpo basically missed the entire season and we won 10 games without him. This past year Orakpo gets hurt again and Kerrigan has a career year. What kills me is seeing a 3rd and short converted or a counter run for 20 because the d-line was decimated. You can be assured no one is going to bully Shelton in the run game. And imagine if he gets any sort of pass rush up the middle? Kerrigan is going to hit the 15+ sack range... and Breeland will never see balls thrown his way, lol

I don't see Murphy as ever becoming a very good pass rusher, just doesn't have that first step all the great ones have. But with that said I am fine with Shelton, he's my choice. Kind of looks like if they pull the trigger that would be the most popular pick on this board and we don't agree on anything.

Well, we don't necessarily need Murph to be a good pass-rusher. We already have one in Kerrigan. All I need him to do is get some pressures and stop the run. To be honest, some very good pass-rushers don't have a good first step. However, some know how to use their quickness, hands, and smarts. I like the way Murph uses counter moves. I saw him do swim moves, spins, etc. With that, I believe with more experience, he might get to the QB, more.

LA made 3 PBS

So did Rak. But expectations were that both these guys would be long term fixtures in DC and absolute terrors based on their rep coming in. Who is the LAST cant miss prospect to come to DC and actually NOT miss??

Injuries have decimated our picks. Arrington, Orakpo, Landry, RGIII

In fact, Sean Taylor and Laron Landry would have been the best Safety tandem in the NFL right now.

...There's nothing we can do as long as Synder is running things the way he is, what's wrong with Shelton having two-three amazing years then, getting traded or injured? If not him, then the OT you want will be a bust his rookie season...

The OT I want isnt coming in to be "The Savior". And I fully expect a RT to come in and be solid if picked that high and yes a long term fixture. As i said, my issue with the cant miss Shelton is I would bet my last dime he will come in and do just enough for us to be debating in four years if he was worthy of the pick. Its simply he way things work out for this team with the "Cant Miss" pick. I have also learned that the majority fan pick for this team usually flames out, its just a matter of how spectacularly.

I agree but you can add Sean Taylor to that list too because "something" beyond anyone's control prevented us from seeing what exactly we got out of our pick. ok that's a stretch...we HAD a hall of famer, who was on his way to being the next Ed Reed, but all I'm saying is i think we are simply putting "faith" in what the media is telling us. They are saying the top OT are not worthy of going in the top 10 OR should be moved to Guard.
They are saying there is a NT that resembles Wilfork and Ngata, and we have a chance to land him.
They are saying Ray and Gregory are fast, -

I'm sorry, i'll take my chances on improving the defense. There are just too many gems that get passed over in the 2nd round and FA at RT.

I think we all believe Williams will be gone, I'd settle for Fowler but I do believe that's giving up on Murphy and co at OLB. We have nothing at NT. Imagine teams not being able to run and then putting our defense in an obvious passing situation on 3rd down.

Hopefully this is where Dan Williams gets signed
