Hey, cereal...got a quick question for you.

Say someone from Zig's wants to come back to SportsHoopla but they paid for a Platinum Membership. If Zig bans them, do they get a refund?

No refunds! But I'm sure Zig would allow you to buy the poster out of their contract.

I think Jeter is/was over-rated. It doesn't mean he wasn't a good player, I just don't think he was a great as the Yankees fans and ESPN want you to believe.

With that said, I would have taken him on the Indians. He would have had to play 2nd or 2rd or something, since we had Vizquel.

Jeter wouldn't move for Arod. He sure as hell isn't moving for Omar.

Yankees Lite fans? They're my favorite. Wait till I tell them that when I lived in Boston, I saw Yaz giving Wally a hummer in The Back Bay Fens.
So you're a Yanks fan with an identity crisis. Nice to know. Would you like me to change the Indians to Yankees for ya?

Todd Walker

You use Kubel he got a September call up at 22 and didn't get another chance for two years.

Johan was a Rule 5 player.

I may have given the impression the Twins never call anyone up until they are 30 but that's not what I meant, the Twins front office and managers Kelly & Gardy did not always give young players a fair shot.

But I will admit I was partially wrong, looking back on alot of the players over the years I thought should have been brought up earlier were in fact brought up at an early age.
Todd Walker decided to go to LSU and didn't go pro until age 21. Kubel missed his entire 2nd year with injury. I wouldn't call either of those 'being held back. When it comes to a can't miss/top prospect, teams just aren't going to let a guy potentially rot in the minors when he could be facing big league talent.

Here's the question:
Would you rather have Nomar at 115 games a season and have to use your backup SS the rest of the time, or have Jeter for 150+ games a season?

Nomar could've been up there as all-time elite SS, but his lack of durability severely hurts his career value.
115 Games per year is 70% of the season. 30 point drop in OPS if replacement is 100 points lower. 60 points lower if replacement is 200 points lower. Well you get the point.

150 is about 93% of the season.
I don't recall saying I missed any of you.
That hurts.. I have a feeling you know. Its not very big and sold it to the Canadian Cartel for some "extra speical" maple surup. But hurts non the less.

Well I can't miss you if you're still here, can I?

It went to 65F yesterday here and has been raining a deluge all night.

We're going over 50 today for the first time since back in the fall, and the sleet from yesterday has turned to rain, but somebody just told me it will snow again tonight or tomorrow. The mounds of leftover snow are blocking the rain from washing into the gutters, so all the sidewalks are like rivers. People are walking in the streets to keep their feet dry. The rats are using the discarded chinese food containers as little boats.

I was in Brooklyn for the storm of the century in '93 and all I remember is 18' mounds of snow that lasted all winter and were covered with dog doo-doo.

LOL...yeap, people don't think they're supposed to pick up their dog's poo when it's laying on a pristine bed of pure, white snow. And once ONE dog does it, all the rest of them go, "Oh, this must be the doggie-potty..."

"One of the greatest ever to play" varies widely, I've found. I don't consider him anywhere near worthy of being called that. Top 100 all time? Yeah, barely.

I think he was a class act, and I enjoyed watching him play. He was a very good hitter, and fraction of a bit above average at SS.

I don't dislike Derek Jeter in the least and it really puzzles me when criticizing an athlete for his performance how the simple-minded start shouting about "why do you hate this guy?"

He's absurdly overrated because he played for the Yankees. Stick him on virtually any other team and that's less true to varying degrees. A career in Kansas City and he goes from megastar to "a solid ballplayer". How can this be denied?

Obviously the fact that he played for the Yanks and his post-season success pumped up the hype, but when you claim that a guy with > 3400 career hits and a .310 BA would have been described as just "a solid ball player" had he played elsewhere, it's impossible to take you seriously. That's a first ballot HOFer regardless of where he played.

I remember watching Steve Garvey play for the Padres. I was really young but it made me kinda root for them. One of my brothers is a huge Padres fan and I enjoy that so much because he's also a goddamn Steelers fan.

I don't need him to have bragging rights so fuck the Fathers.

A Steve Garvey shout out. I suppose a nod to the king of the douche bag phonies is appropriate for this thread.
