What if they now acquire Fister, Zobrist, and Prado? Are they punting then?
We'll see. Maybe they will now acquire Shields and Scherzer to go with Fister and Peavy and Cain and Lincecum and Hudson and Bumgarner.

And if Monkeys start to fly, we will be in Oz.
Until that happens, the team is moving forward with a very measured plan of attack. Based on what has happened to this point, I think msg's read on the situation is rather accurate.
I doubt Fister is on the way, given the signing of Peavy. Who would be bumped from the rotation in that scenario? Timmeh? As much as I would love to see it, I just don't think that is happening.

You miss my point. They're almost certainly not in on Scherzer. Shields is still a distinct possibility, but they want to hold on to that #19 pick. Thus, Fister is a distinct possibility. As are Zobrist and Prado.
Waaaaay to early to call in an offseason, much less a punt on 2015.
Interesting that on July 4, with two months of the worst baseball any of us had seen in decades, I was a proponent of punting the season. You and others roundly criticized that stance and were proved right. Now, on December 19, one month in to free agency, with the landscape anything BUT clear, you are ready to punt on 2015.
Interesting irony to say the least.
I guess we'll see.

I am not advocating. I am reading tea-leaves.
It LOOKS LIKE the Giants are heading into 2015 with a moderate hand, at best. They have a history of having cards up their sleeve, though, so I am not ready to declare the off-season finished yet. But as it looks RIGHT NOW, the Giants are not going all-in preflop.
Last year, you wanted them to fold with top pair just because there was a straight draw on the board.
Actually it was more like we had top 2 pair, the turn gave someone a flush, and he wanted to bail...then the river gave us a full house. Or something.
But he was advocating folding on the turn, where the board was pretty dull (no made straight or made flush, only draws), and we had top pair / OK kicker (think KhJc with a Kd-7c-9s-3s board).
WE WERE IN FIRST PLACE WHEN HE WANTED TO SELL.

I don't think that is a package, those are just names being discussed.
I am not sure I would want McGehee over Duffy, but I will trust the PsTB. How is his defense?
Yeah it's one of two being discussed. The "/" in trade posts is odd. (This is a small OT post). Some use it as and/or and some use it as indicator of packaged together
