Until that happens, the team is moving forward with a very measured plan of attack. Based on what has happened to this point, I think msg's read on the situation is rather accurate.

I doubt Fister is on the way, given the signing of Peavy. Who would be bumped from the rotation in that scenario? Timmeh? As much as I would love to see it, I just don't think that is happening.

In 2016 Scutaro, Hudson, and Timmy (and others?) are off the books. I believe they will make their push then. The White Sox did the same thing, bided time in 2014, pushed their chips in this year when all their bad contracts were gone.

You and others roundly criticized that stance and were proved right. Now, on December 19, one month in to free agency, with the landscape anything BUT clear, you are ready to punt on 2015.

Interesting irony to say the least.

You miss my point. They're almost certainly not in on Scherzer. Shields is still a distinct possibility, but they want to hold on to that #19 pick. Thus, Fister is a distinct possibility. As are Zobrist and Prado.

How many guys do you need in a starting rotation? If they are still on Shields or Fister, they probably wouldn't have signed Peavy. I believe they will still go after a LF and/or 3B but it's hard to imagine they will sign another SP and bumping anyone out of the backend of rotation (Peavy, Hudson, Timmy) who all makes $12M+ per.

It LOOKS LIKE the Giants are heading into 2015 with a moderate hand, at best. They have a history of having cards up their sleeve, though, so I am not ready to declare the off-season finished yet. But as it looks RIGHT NOW, the Giants are not going all-in preflop.

Actually it was more like we had top 2 pair, the turn gave someone a flush, and he wanted to bail...then the river gave us a full house. Or something.

But he was advocating folding on the turn, where the board was pretty dull (no made straight or made flush, only draws), and we had top pair / OK kicker (think KhJc with a Kd-7c-9s-3s board).

I think Duffy would do just as well as McGehee. But alas, he is not a vet. Seems too steep a price to pay.

However, McGehee is Arb3, and won't cost much. ($1.2-$2???)

I saw that GDP number, but it does not look like he has a history of it, so maybe it had more to do with some kind of team dynamic vs his skill set(??).

Bad analogy. No Way on July 4 they were "top pair." They were queen high towards a flush looking at several pairs opposed. I was willing to fold. You were not and you caught the royal flush. I was wrong, but let's not revise history.
