Name a movie you felt was better than it got credit for.

Broken Arrow.

John Travolta, Christian Slater, Samantha Mathis, Delroy Lindo, Bob Gunton, Howie Long.

Director: John Woo

Soundtrack: Hans Zimmer with Duane Eddie on the bass guitar.

The budget was 55M and grossed 150M world wide.

Major Deakins (Travolta) is piloting a stealth bomber on a practice run in Utah with his co-pilot Capt. Riley Hale (Slater) when Deakins high jacks the plane and steals the nukes, planning to ransom them back to the U.S.

Hale, along with Forest Ranger Terry Carmichael (Mathis) are trying to stop him.

In China motion pictures are more character driven so that's what Woo did, he made the story about the relationship between Hale and Deakins, and was even smart enough to make the nuke itself a character in the film - Zimmer followed this by giving the nuke it's own music when it was onscreen. He did a nice job of spinning the camera angles, leaving off on one character mid shot, and picking up on the other with that same angle.

The two main characters were shot as big brother and little brother with the big brother winning, usually because little brother never wanted to step up and follow through.

The action moves pretty well throughout, while holding the drama - both of the potentially exploding nuke as well as the tensions game of cat and mouse between Deak and Hale - from one location to another until the finale.

One of my favorite movies.

Strange Brew- I don't need to explain why. Just watch it if you haven't seen it.

The Worlds Fastest Indian- One of my favorite Anthony Hopkins movies.

American Heart, with Jeff Bridges.

It was probably pushed because of Edward Furlong's not-too-distant association with Terminator 2.

Yet, this movie resonated with me, for a film that no one remembers.

There's one 'memory' scene with Bridge's character at the end that, while brief, still stands out with me.

Actually, so do I, come to think of it. I bought it on DVD from a closing Blockbuster years ago, but never got around to watching it.

My step-dad was big into collecting Indian parts for his '29 bike that he was meticulously building, authentic-piece by (expensive) authentic-piece. Have to give this a movie a look at some point.

Contagion and it is on right now.

Of the outbreak movies, this is really the most realistic. I have met and talked to the scientific advisor for the movie as well. It was based on Nipah virus which is currently a very under-appreciated emerging infectious disease.

I really don't think it's a bad film. Forget the budget aspect or the Costner 'all-about-me' angle. It's an enjoyable flick.

"Half-an-hour half-an-hour half-an-hour...."

:yahoo:

I liked it. It was never going to win oscars but it kept me entertained for a couple of hours.

Not a huge movie watcher anymore, but this is one in the recent past that's held a perpetual 'maybe I should see' hold over me.

Joy Ride- Paul Walker and Steve Zahn. Really good movie

The Strangers- Might not be as underrated but it's, IMO one of the best horror movies of the 2000's
