Tried to go back and find a similar thread and gave up. Was watching "Meet the Press" yesterday and the show addressed this issue and I remember a couple of interesting points that were made.
1) A student athletes health care coverage beyond 4 years of eligibility. Seems reasonable that this issue could remain on the board for discussion IF an injury resulted in long term bodily damage to an athlete past his college playing days.
2) Continued college scholarship IF a student athlete chose to continue his/her education past a typical 4 year eligibility scholarship. Seems reasonable to me that that would increase the likelihood of an athlete to stay in school and increase his post education opportunities if a pro career never materialized. I like this idea.
