I'm with many of you: hoping that they somehow get to face the Blazers, a team I'd predict they'd beat in a seven game series. I think they'd have little chance of beating The Rockets (big, athletic) or OKC (too many weapons). A Clips series would be very competitive, but I think the Clips" depth would eventually wear us down.

Spurs? I always underestimate their team play. That said, the Ws are better this year than last, and we scared the bejesus out of them last year.

1. Blazers: win in 6.
2. Clips/Spurs: Competitive, probably lose in 6, but you never know.

3. Rockets/Thunder: lose in 6.

OKC's bench is suspect IMO, is Westbrook healthy at this point?.

We will see. I don't think that's exactly true

They'll have to do it on the road. I can't think of any of the top 4 teams they'd be favored against.

True. What's amazing about the west is, while the teams that finish 5-8 will not be favored, I would not be shocked if any of them one their first-round series.

With a possible grizz win. Warriors can be 1.5 games out of the 5 seed

Really? I'd be stunned if San Antonio or OKC lost their first round matchup.

After watching Dallas tonight, I stand corrected.

I WOULD give the Ws and Griz a fighting chance to pull off a first round upset though.

Just a reminder that Portland has lost 10 straight against teams currently in the Western playoffs.

They won't get the Blazers, who will be the 5 seed. They are unlikely to get the Spurs or OKC, who will be the 1 and 2 seeds. They might get the Rockets, but the smart money is on the Clippers. I'm not convinced that the Clips are deeper since we added Blake.

It'll be a good series, and we get a preview tomorrow night.

They're two losses back of the Blazers with two games to play in Portland. Don't fall for the illusion of "1.5 games out."

The loss column...that's what matters.

Looking at the schedules for the rest of the year:

Portland: 9 home, 9 road. Likely losses: @SAN, @MIA, @ATL, @CHI
14-4 to finish 56-26

Golden State: 10 home, 7 road. Likely losses: @LAC, @POR, @DAL, @SAN, @POR
12-5 to finish 53-29

Three games out of the five seed. Sure would like some of these losses back:
MEM
@LAL
POR
@CHA
HOU
SAN
@BKN
DEN
IND
MIN
WAS
CHA
MIA
@CHI
@TOR

Just 5 of those 15 losses and they'd be leading the division and in the 3 seed.

But, inconsistent defense and turnovers will kill a team.

You give way too much credit to Portland, they are starting to show their flaws over the long season. Remember these guys were not expected to be that good, and the long NBA season exposes everyone. 9-0 at home, eh? The Ws right now are the better team, we'll see if there's enough runway for them to catch up.

Portland does have consistent defense though....consistently shitty, especially compared to the Warriors' very good defense. So if the Ws defense doesn't flip your skirt, you should really be down on the Blazers, which you clearly aren't.

The Ws aren't going 10-0 at home either like you project. I think they will win one of the games in Portland.

Well, look at it. Try and imagine a scenario where the Ws and Blazers face in the first round. Then, after you wake up, fluff the pillow.

I'm not necessarily saying they will go 9-0 at home, but for every home loss they have, the Ws will probably have one as well. Thus, a wash.

Agreed on Portland's D. Which is why they won't advance in the playoffs, IMO. I'm less than impressed with the Blazers except that they have two legit stars which always makes a team dangerous. Lillard and Aldridge are nothing to trifle with. They can get away with crappier D than the Ws because they have a superior offense.

Even if the Ws win one of the games in Portland, it won't be enough to close the three game gap.

The Ws pissed home court away with all those bad losses.

Nope. But that wasn't the subject. The subject is the Ws and their defensive lapses which have led to being a road team in the playoffs.

Seriously, you ARE in high school. You've got to be with these posts.

Unless the Warriors can overtake a 4th seed, whether or not they surpass Portand is irrelevant.

The teams I don't want to see, in this order:

1) Thunder
2) Clippers
3) Rockets
4) Spurs
5) Blazers

We've pretty much owned the Clippers this year and match up well against them. And, after all, they are the Clippers. They'll implode in the playoffs anyway. Would be nice to see it be the Warriors who are playing them when they do.
