Hands down the 18-1 Pats. Only an act of God prevented them from being the greatest of all time.

Thats right, didnt Rivers play the whole game on a torn ACL and I think LT left after the 1st series.

There were a few games they almost lost that year - all right at the end.

The Ravens had a melt down on penalties. Remember?

And the Giants beat themselves with turnovers late.

2013 Broncos.

Well, they were considered a great team last week at least.

They were staggering at the end of that season. Kudos for staying undefeated but it is hard to keep it going and takes some luck here and there. Just like the 72 Dolphins had a little with the perfect season.

I'm going to go with that Colts team that lost to Namath as an 18pt favorite. Their QB averaged 9.2 yards a pass attempt during the year but threw 3 Ints and got replaced by Unitas. They went 13-1 and avenged their loss in the playoffs with a 30pt blowout. It had Don Shula and Chuck Noll as coaches.

The 2001 Rams and the near perfect Pats are up there as well

The only answer for #1 is the 07 Patriots.

Up in the top 5 would have to be the 78 Cowboys. They were the defending Super Bowl Champions and just happened to have to play the Team of the 70s. The 97 Packers I also include as they also were defending Super Bowl Champions.

Yup...The '68 Colts were dominant and had the best QB of all-time in Johnny U.

:agree:

Johnny U wasn't even healthy for the Super Bowl. Earl Morrel started the game. Unitas came off the bench late & simply wasn't himself.

I'd say that Cowboys team that lost 35-31 to the Steelers has to be right up their. They were damn good.

I don't know if you mean he doesn't deserve all the blame, but if memory serves he missed a FG. And in a game that goes into overtime a FG's a pretty big deal.

If Denny Green didn't fucking suck as a head coach Andersen wouldn't have been put in that position. Not to mention the Vikings lead by 7 when he missed the field goal...

07 PATS...you can't top undefeated until the SB.

Not sure I agree with that, although I understand why people think that, are the 72 Dolphins the best team of all time?

Yeah, undefeated doesn't always mean better, and this defense wasn't very good. They coasted through that schedule, though, for the most part. That offense could have put a lot more points if it needed to.

We've had 48 of them now and there have been some truly great teams among the losers.

In the 48 games we've had, who was the best team to lose it?

I've given this SOME thought but since I'm not ready to form an opinion just yet, I'm looking for some input.

The Dallas teams of the 70's are near the top of the list, as are the Bills that lost to the Giants, the Steelers of SB XXX, the Vikings of the 70's and of course, the Pats of 2007. Those aren't the only ones I have on the list but they're some.

Discuss.

That Bills team that went to 4 Super Bowls should a got at least one … It's amazing they were able to go to 4 in a row but it just sucks they couldn't get one… That game they lost to the Giants was a big dagger because it set the tone … Had they made that kick I think they get another one and there a dynasty in the 90's …. But man they just didn't catch the breaks…

You have to wonder how much that kick really took out of them. They sucked in the next three.
