Daniel Mogollon (voter for the Thorpe and Lombardi Award):
"You can bet Jeff Fisher will have his boys just as ready as Jim Harbaugh will. This one figures to be a dogfight."

anybody think Kaepernick and the 49ers OTs are looking forward to facing this DE duo of the Rams?

Rams RDE Robert Quinn has four sacks, which ties him for the NFC lead, while Rams LDE Chris Long has four sacks in last five games and five in his last six against the 49ers

Chris Long -- #2 overall pick, 2008 Draft (11.5 sacks last season)

Robert Quinn -- #14 overall pick, 2011 Draft (10.5 sacks last season)

Asked on NFL Network's "NFL AM" if he and Long can be the best tandem of ends in football, Quinn said: "I believe we can be in that argument. I like to call myself 'Black Lightning' and him the 'White Thunder,' aka 'The Thunder Storm.' "

For his part, St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford said he is glad he doesn't worry about facing them:
"Oh man, (I'm) extremely happy that him (Quinn) and Chris aren't lining up opposite of me," Bradford said. "We had to face them every day in training camp; those two guys are as good a tandem as there is."

add Rams DT Mike Brockers of LSU, #14 overall pick in 2012

CBS Sports’ Senior NFL Columnist Pete Prisco is one of many who think Brockers is due for a breakout season this year:

"Jeff Fisher had Albert Haynesworth in Tennessee and this kid has a chance to be even better. As a rookie, he flashed big time on tape, showing power and quickness while recording four sacks. I would be shocked if it isn't double digits in 2013."

Pete O’Brien, USA TODAY Sports writes:

"The imposing 6-5, 322-pounder did an effective job consuming blockers and collapsing the pocket as a rookie. An ankle injury at the end of the preseason kept Brockers sidelined for the first three games, and he didn't get rolling until Week 7. But he finished with four sacks and was in on 31 tackles...Brockers, 22, has an extremely high ceiling and great complementary linemates with top pass rushers Chris Long and Robert Quinn. Brockers might become the anchor of a defensive line that could be one of the league's best for years."

Nick Wagoner of ESPN writes:

"Brockers’ breakthrough performance came right at the beginning of the second half of the season. Motivated by the opportunity to face San Francisco’s tough, physical offensive line, namely guard Mike Iupati, Brockers gave San Francisco fits. Brockers never looked back in the second half. He again gave San Francisco fits in Week 13, and put on another dominant performance against Buffalo the following week. That late-season performance combined with an offseason in which he has reshaped his body has many observers believing that Brockers, on a team full of young potential, is the most likely to emerge into a full blown star in 2013. Jeff Fisher said: "We think he can be a dominating player inside.” New defensive coordinator Tim Walton said of Brockers: "He’s a stud." Fisher has often said that most players make their biggest improvement from Year 1 to Year 2. If that holds true for Brockers, big things are in store in 2013. If Brockers can develop as he and the Rams hope, it would make for a potentially devastating defensive line. Ends Robert Quinn and Chris Long are more known commodities and that group led the way for a team that finished tied for first with Denver in sacks a year ago."

don't look now but Rams new OLB Alec Ogletree of Georgia (taken #30 overall in the last Draft) is #1 on the Rams with 22 tackles. Last year, he was #1 for Georgia with 111 tackles

and the Rams have played the 49ers more than any other team in their history

Rams lead the series 62-61-3

in the 2000s, the series was tied 10-10

so far in the 2010s, the 49ers are up 3-2-1

Since 2005, 49ers lead the series 11-3-1

Wikipedia shows a tie and the results of every game. Either way that's a pretty even rivalry.

Fox Sports on the Rams:

"This team can flat-out get after the opposing quarterback. In 2012, the Rams led the entire NFL with 52 sacks and the speed off the edge of Chris Long and Robert Quinn is unmatched in the entire league. With the development of Michael Brockers, who had four sacks last season as a rookie, this defensive line is only going to be better in 2013. St. Louis also drafted Alec Ogletree...and he was easily the most athletic linebacker in the entire class...he has the ability to become one of the better blitzing linebackers in all of football.

With the read-option and athletic quarterbacks like Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick in their division, the speed of the Rams’ defense will be even more critical. If anyone can match up with those spread offenses, it is the Rams … let's remember, they went 4-1-1 in the division last year."

pro football reference shows the results of every game too, and i clicked on that and it's saying 62-62-3 so that's probably it

Rams by 10. A healthy 49ers team would probably win at a canter...but they're nowhere near healthy.

Breaker99 isn't butthurt. It just seems that way. And he's not obsessed with Kaepernick. Just seems that way. And even though he has about a dozen posts coming right out and saying it, Breaker99 doesn't really think the 49ers are the only team in the NFL to have injuries. Just seems that way.

See, Breaker99 has a very powerful tool on this side. It's called Denial.

"I said nothing of the sort!" - Breaker99

Big throw by Sam B, big penalty to go with it. Facemask the QB?
