Thanks for the link!! I need to study up a bit!! Like I said, not a huge fan, but I like almost all sports and of course, I love the competition in the PAC. Should be a good season.....looking forward to it.

As an Arizona fan, how have you liked your new coach compared to the famous Lute Olsen?

Sean Miller is a terrific recruiter and can pretty much get any player he wants. Right now no one on the West Coast has even come close to him recruiting. He really has Arizona back to elite status. I have no complaints whatsoever. He was the perfect person to succeed Lute.

The most successful coaches have a career path of growth and development. They do not start out with the ability to put it all together to win championships, develop players, consistently compete every game at a high level, etc. You look at all of the greats, they grew from year to year to become great.

I think that Coach Miller is a long way from that right now, as were all coaches who started out in their first decade or so. You look at Miller, and you have to compare him to other coaches in their first decade. And when you do that, he is among the best young coaches ever. But that doesn't mean that he can hold a candle to the ones who have grown over decades.

But I think that he is on his way, and that is what excites AZ fans. He is tasked to take over a program that Lute put on the map, and do so in his very young coaching career. It's not like Bill Self taking over Kansas, Roy Williams taking over UNC, or Cal taking over UK. He is a very good recruiter, but he has a ways to go to be as developed as the coaches who have worked their craft for decades. For the most part, AZ fans understand that. One difficulty Miller has faced and overcome, is how to continue after a coach like Lute, without anything near his accomplishments. Again, it is a very unique situation. I think that his ability to harness the past of AZ success, instead of separate himself from it, is something that he is succeeding at. He knows that he cannot just step in and coach like Lute. He also knows that he needs to embrace the past, if he is looking to continue it. But it will take time. Even with all of the resources, tradition, players, and fans that AZ has, he still has to beat teams who have those also, and who also have coaches with decades more success. Fine-tuning that success every game every year is a very time-consuming process of learning, and adapting to greatness.

I think that Miller is doing a great job, but he still has a long way to go, and the only opportunity he has, is time. There is no way to expect him to know what it has taken the greats decades to learn. But he is very good on compounding his experience toward becoming a better coach. And that's all we can ask for, and more.

interesting to see how usc does this year...few years ago they lost every conference game they played. recently pulled Jordan McLaughlin away from ucla...not known for getting top recruits that's a big steal...espn has him as #6 ranked PG. but a poor season might sway him elsewhere

Big blow for Oregon... Artis is a huge part of that team and he got suspended for selling shoes. Hope they still manage to fair well in OCC for the sake of the Pac12.

Can't wait for Friday!

Not sure if it was just early season jitters but a lot of teams were far from impressive tonight. UCLA barely beat Drexel, Colorado lost, etc. I think the best victory was probably Oregon over G-Town. ASU played well and so did Utah. Next up for UA is Long Beach St. on Monday.

Fork what did you think of Shaquille Mckissic. Rebounding could be an issue this year. Bach still looks soft on the glass. More perimeter scorers this year. Spacing was bad in the 1st half but got better. Players still learning the system.

Jermaine looked really smooth tonight.

Gillings release looks quicker and shot looks flatter I noticed that when he knocked down his first three.

He needs to be more physical. Shaq looked good.
Next opponent tonight should be a tougher game for us. I will not be going but watching on Dish.

Jermaine Marshall looks good. Everyone on our team can hit 3s. We could be the best 3 pt shooting team this year.

Quit being such a homer, Jahii!!!!

Seriously, not taking anything away from ASU, but did you even look to see that Maimi gave up 47% from 3pt in their last game against ND? And you only shot 39% against UMBC.

Chance Murrays shot is so pure though. Everyone can shoot the 3. Its a non conference game so we wont be letting guys like Richie Edwards shoot the 3. Hes shot 3 I think already.

Carson, Gilling, Marshall, Murray. Plenty of 3 point shooters. Murray looks like Abbott his freshmen year!

Yeah, but so many of those shots are completely wide open. I hope they are making them. If they shoot that well against a team that is holding teams to under 40%, then that's another story. But when giving up 47% is the norm, it's probably more due to the fact that Miami can't guard anyone on the perimeter. Again, especially when ASU couldn't even shoot 40% against UMBC. Think about it.
