Bumgarner making mistakes today, and that one goes over the fence.

Oh well, can't pitch a shutout every day. I'd rather have a day like Cain yesterday with a ton of Ks and no walks and a couple solo HRs than 5 BBs and 4 runs allowed.

Harvey, Wheeler excel for Mets in doubleheader sweep of Braves | The Strike Zone - SI.com

Water under the bridge, had to be done, no other choice, and all that. But crud, Wheeler looked good yesterday.

Wasn't fond of the trade when it happened and it really pissed me off that they seemed to just let Beltran walk after the year ended. I don't thibnk they even put together an offer. I understand the concept of a rental but why the hell did they part with Wheeler without atleast trying to resign him. They may have but i was never able to find anything that they did in fact try

Fortunately we missed facing him (pitching today) But Marlins 20-year-old SP Jose Fernandez is the real deal. Already the ace of their rotation, incredible talent. If you guys ever get the chance, you would watch him.

If we did sign him, does 2012 happen?
I'm about as happy of a fan as I can be considering the last 3 years, other teams' success doesn't bother me one bit (Mets having a nice young pitcher). And I like Pence as a person WAY more than Beltran.

Let's hope he beats the Dbags today

True. Still, I'd take fewer K's to keep more in the yard.

Giants haven't hit a homer since Blanco homered against the Braves last Thursday. (Reverse jinx?)

Hard to say. Beltran put up some good numbers in 2012. Not trying to compare him to Pence. Just don't understand why they gave up so much and didn't at least make an offer to him in 2012.

I'm sure they did make an offer but probably one they knew would be below what he could get elsewhere. Which is the same money-careful attitude this board often takes regarding re-signing Pence, Zito, Lincecum...

Beltran was great in 2012 but it just changes the whole dynamic...as another poster said, butterfly wings...
