Wizard, I have never denied the whole 2010 debacle under Harbaugh. It was an embarrassment, but it was Harbaugh's team.

The fact that Skov had an MRI after the game and missed practice yesterday then is just part of our clever ploy? Sark did mention Randy Hart by name, did Hart do it when he was your coach for 20+ years? Knowing David, I don't think he would have gone there if Sark had not reinforced the comments on Monday.

Was it a bad choice by Shaw to rant like that? Yes. Do I respect him for defending his players and team, by all means.

Buddha, my comments weren't aimed at you in any way and I have no problems with you seeing things differently.

I would however point out a few things about your statements:
"I must say that we don't fake injuries, we don't and we never will," Shaw said. "We don't condone it, we don't teach it, we don't allow it. We've never done it, and if we didn't do it against Oregon, why would we do it against Washington?"
Shaw was the OC at the time of that video above. So if you agree it did happen then his statement that "We've never done it." is an outright lie.

Sark said
their defensive line coach was telling them to sit down
That is a direct quote from the brief comments made. He did not mention him by name.

Again, about Skov or anyone else, it wasn't whether or not they actually got dinged up, but rather how exaggerated it was and how much time it took plus how fast they came back and how good they looked after they did. Look at the above video and watch skov again and tell me it wasn't as drawn out as that one was. Again, this isn't a question of did he get hurt, it's when and how long it took and just how fast he fully recovered. Is it just a coincidence these only happen against uptempo offenses?

There was some discussion behind the scenes that the UW coaches watched Hart signal for the sit down and that is why they brought him up. Since they are not talking about it anymore I doubt we get confirmation but it would sure make a lot of sense as to why they are holding to their guns on this.

I have no problems with you seeing things differently, but I'm 100% sure something was going on and I'm sticking to it. I do still wish Sark had not said anything about it and I don't believe it cost them the game.

Wiz-
I know your comments were not directed at me, sorry if it seemed that way. Yes David was the OC, but Roman was the DC and Harbaugh the HC. I am one of the few fans who does not kiss the ring of Harbaugh. He did great things with the program, but like Walsh and Harris, he did not do things "the Stanford way" IMHO. He was a great recruiter, and a good head coach, but I have never liked people who run up the score to prove a point, and I loathe U$C (aka Under Stanford Control, yeah I am angling for an Avi bet with TF12 there).

My point is simply this, in at least two of the cases, the guys in question were hurt enough to miss more than one play, and miss some practice time this week. The interview I read had Hart's name in it, hence my assertion that David was right. I have emailed him to see if there is anything he can share with me, but even hen I am sure I can't divulge it publicly. The joy's and woes of knowing the head coach for 20 years :).

I have no idea if Shaw even knew what was going on. HC's are always busy in the plays but unless something was said on the headset it is at least probable that if Randy did make that signal that he wouldn't have known about it unless he asked him to do it. It is at least possible he is telling the truth and is still wrong.

Again, you bring up the validity of the injuries while I do not question that, but the duration of the delay. that is what 'sitting down' means.

I'm over it and just hope it doesn't end up being a distraction and I do not plan on having any further debates about it. We can simply agree to disagree.

Is it not possible that when he said "we" he was referring to "we" as in, his time as head coach?

The weight he added was all muscle. If he was just going to stay the same weight he might as well have gone to the NFL last year.

Absolutely, but that sort of political denial would still be dishonest even if factually correct in terms of the actual words and is still as reprehensible wouldn't you say?

No. Shaw isn't responsible for what happened in the "Harbaugh era"!! Shaw is responsible for what happens in the Shaw era!! I don't believe that the players faked injury, so Shaw saying we've never done that and we never will, when referring to his tenure as coach isn't reprehensible.

When Shaw leaves Stanford and is replaced by Lane Kiffin (a little response to Buddha's avi bet), are you going to say Shaw lied if Kiffin allows his defense to fake injuries?

Well he is friends with Condi, damn if he plays politics I am a sad panda. Agree to disagree is fine, I guess I get hyped up about a team I was raised on, and wonder is some of (not you Wiz) the animosity towards Stanford from UW fans is a function of the Walsh/James battle.

Shaw was with harbs before Stanford and all through his time there. When you say 'we' it has to include all who were with him at the school no matter who was the man in charge. They 'sat down' while Shaw was there which means he cannot accurately say We've never done it.

I doubt many remember any of that. I mean Walsh was a huge part of the added sanctions against UW over the billy jo hobert stuff, but I really don't think many have any real feelings about them over it. I know I don't have anything against the school over that, but Walsh is not someone I'm fond of.

I haven't considered Stanford a rival of any kind. I know our local media is loving this little spat and is playing it up. They want to make this into a bigger rivalry for next year.

I can tell you this, I'm absolutely pulling for Stanford when they play Oregon.

I don't know if anyone faked injuries or not. But I will say the days of walking off the field for an injury are over when it comes to defenses facing HUNH offenses, and teams that play those kinds of offenses are just going to have to suck it up.

And I'm not talking about faking injuries, which is lame. I'm talking about coaches are going to tell a player to drop the ground for injuries they would have walked off the field for in the past. If you want to call that "faking" then whatever.

Because they can't walk off the field anymore. That is the reality of where football is right now. Against these offenses the only way a player who is injured for any reason, even something they can walk off the field for, can get off the field is if they drop. So if a player is wanting to come off the field, the coaches are going to tell them to drop.

Because if they don't, then the offense is just going to call a play while the defense is down a player, which in the case of an actual injury is even more lame than the defender going to the ground. Because if an injured player can walk off the field in time, then there wouldn't be substitution problems in general.

That's just the reality of it. Coach I think my arm is broke - drop to the ground. We can't substitute you without a stoppage in play. If we could, then we would be able to substitute during the plays with the non-injured.

Think about it.

You're being far too literal. Shaw was with him, but he wasn't in charge and it wasn't his call. He can truthfully say "We've never faked injuries" when referring to the team while he's the head coach.

He cannot, however, say "we've never faked injuries" if he's referring to the Harbaugh coached Stanford team that he was part of.

I believe that he was talking about his Stanford team, not Harbaugh's Stanford team.

TF12 if the Kitten coached at Stanford, I might become a Under Standford Control fan. I mean I turned down a academic ride to USC to pay out of pocket for Stanford when I got in, my hate only goes so far as the start of the 90's.

Wiz, I respect what Oregon has built, but I pull for you all, Price and Sankey really impressed me, and the UW secondary is for real, or my teams receivers and D really suck. Man that would hurt if it was true.
