who should stay?
Logan Thomas*

who should go?
Antone Exum
James Gayle

who will do good?

etc etc etc.

I will add these:

Who will stay?
Antone Exum
James Gayle

Who will go?
Logan Thomas*

Exum and Gayle both play positions that are essential in the new defensive style in the NFL (big corner, fast DE) and regardless of this season,t hey showed enough that they will get drafted and relatively early. The combine will only help these guys. Gayle on the field and Exum in interviews. They both love college football however and come from well to do families so will stay. All the better for us. All of their flaws are easily fixable by an NFL coach.

Thomas has a tough decision but he will ask himself this simple question: Will I be better off being coached up by an NFL OC/QB coach or a college one. The answer to that question will be dependent on the new OC here.

My projections:

Bruce - 3rd round
Davis - 2nd round
Fuller - 7th round
Painter - 6th round
Becton 7th round

UFAs that will get picked up: Hop, Tweedy, JGW, Roberts, Dunn, Scales, Via

UFAs that will make a roster: Tweedy, Hop, Via

My opinions right now

*dependent on the new OC and staff. I will re-address once that is decided.

I think LT would be best served by coming back. He needs work on timing and accuracy and hopefully he sees that. I honestly think he would be 3rd round or later if he came out this year. If he comes back and throws the ball better he could be a very early pick. With that said i'll be surprised if he comes back, you have to figure he is making his decision now and at this moment he doesnt know who his OC or QB coach is for next season, Has no clue what type of offense he will be asked to run, doesnt know who his receivers will be, has no clear starter in the backfield with him, and on top of that was prob given a grade that is better than where he will actually be drafted. IDK but IMO he's gone. Hope im wrong.

I've heard Exum is coming back. Gayle and LT I haven't heard about yet. I imagine LT is waiting to see who the new OC/QB coach is.

With Exum coming back we should have a very solid secondary between him and the fuller bros.

If Stephen Hill was a 1st rounder, no doubt MD7 could make the 2nd round based on measurables alone

Yep. Davis will probably have a similar combine to Julio Jones a few years ago,IMO. A lot of Davis' draft stock is going to depend on how he performs in position drills and at the Shrine game. If he drops a lot of balls and can't show that he can run accurate routes.....he could fall like a rock. If he can prove he can do those things and he puts up his freakish athletic numbers at the combine....we may all be cussing Kevin Sherman in a few months.

i think exum will stay because:
he can afford to
he will get better and be a possible first rounder next year

i think gayle will stay because:
the draft has a lot of DL that got grades better than him. he knows that he's capable of more and i doubt he was satisfied with his grade

LT .. who knows but I think he goes regardless (hope i'm wrong)

i don't think that marcus davis goes nearly as high as 2nd round .. 4-6th round IMO

I think Exum and Gayle stay. Exum played well by the end of the year but he could be a 1st round pick with a full season like how he finished this one. Gayle didnt have the season he wanted and it is a deep DE/OLB class so i think he comes back.

LT... I think he SHOULD come back because it will help his long term pro career IMO but who knows

Exum will stay because he's just had 1 year at his new position. Gayle will stay because his numbers went down despite being healthier. I don't see him going higher than the 5th round if he leaves early. Out of all possible candidates to enter the draft this year I think Davis is the only one with a chance to stick in the NFL for a long time unless LT chooses TE

All juniors should stay. Every one of them could use 1 more year to polish of their skills (or in LT's case, relearn his skills).

As for those drafted? I see Davis as the highest pick. If he has a good combine, I'd say possible late round 2, but most likely 3 or 4 ish. Painter, Taylor, and Fuller all late round picks and that's it. I see Tweedy getting a UFA contract and Scales trying out somewhere but not making it.

The players with the best careers? Fuller and Tweedy. Both have good instincts and a solid work ethic. They'll latch on to a 53 man roster somewhere and contribute meaningfully for a few years

You don't think Bruce Taylor will stick in the NFL?

You'd be suprised what a good combine can do for your draft status.

If Stephen Hill was a 1st rounder, no doubt MD7 could make the 2nd round based on measurables alone

Marcus Davis = Jonathan Baldwin but will give much better interviews he is a quiet and intelligent kid.

Exum will stay because he's just had 1 year at his new position. Gayle will stay because his numbers went down despite being healthier. A lot of NFL teams don't give much credence to college stats and look at measurables and technique. Gayle has both. They can coach that up, and as far as Exum, he can be coached at the next level, coaches will drool over his measurables IMO.

You don't think Bruce Taylor will stick in the NFL?

I don't know if he has the lateral movement and speed especially after the injury

I think he could be a good 4-3 Mike in the right system.

My prediction:
Davis: Late 3rd (only because blocking negative publicity about blocking hurts him)
Taylor: 4th round (I think his combine will hurt him, his playing ability is better than his measurables)
Fuller: 6-7th round
I think Gayle and Exum stay, Logan might go but I think he might end up as a 4th rounder

Aaron Murray has decided to come back for his senior year. Is this more incentive for LT to come out this year? I am not sure who the top QB would be in next years draft....Murray, Bridgewater, Boyd...

I've never really been high on Gayle. He plays a little stiff and slow

Unless you come from a poor family, there is no reason to enter the draft early unless you are guaranteed to go in the first couple rounds. If someone is guaranteeing that LT will go in the first couple rounds, they are a dumbass.

Logan is not a good QB so it's hard for me to say whether I want him to stay or go. Having your QB come back somewhat gives you a false sense of security. Imagine if Tannehill wasn't a senior last year and had decided to stay at Texas A&M. Johnny Manziel would have never happened.

I really hope Exum and Gayle can come back. They were playing good football by the end of the season.
