Hopefully a player, their league, or someone can step up and stand up for them. They're getting rail roaded by an ambulance chaser who doesn't get paid unless he/she wins something.

And then the insurance company raises Little League's rates and those increases are passed onto the kids playing the game. Fuck that. The woman who brought the lawsuit should be sodomized (or at least ridiculed strongly by EVERYONE in te community) and the case shoud be thrown out with prejudice. The lawyer who brought the case should be disbarred.

Little leagues insurance doesn't cover spectator injury. The ambulance chaser is going after their home owners insurance, but that only covers one of the three counts the family is suing for.

I shit you not, her husband is also suing them for loss of his wife while she 'copes' with this injury.

He's suing for the loss of her "services, society and consortium." Is he talkin bout what I think he's talkin bout?!

If I said that publicly about my wife, I'd end up having to sue her for the loss of the "services, society and consortium" of my balls.

These people are shitholes.

Yup. There are just some people who do not deserve to live in organized and civilized society.

Can the Judge order the kid and his parents to throw 150,000 dollars worth of baseballs at her?

An excellent rebuttal to the thoroughly ridiculous claim that "insurance will settle it", though I'm not sure sodomy is the remedy, but the point was well-taken.

We have become such an overly litigious society, to the degree that it is only the lawyers and the elite who can succeed anymore. The cost of doing business, getting healthcare, mere existence has become so expensive because lawyers in essence tax every step of every process. What makes it worse and virtually impossible to unwind is that it is lawyers who police the lawyers. Virtually every politician is a lawyer these days, and if they aren't a lawyer, they are guided by lawyers.

There is virtually no disincentive to bringing suit against anyone for virtually any reason. There are so many laws on the books that it is virtually certain that everyone is guilty of breaking one at any point in time. Then it simply becomes a matter of who it is the elite want to go after.

While agree with the point, the facts are not exactly true. About 1/2 of senators come from a legal background while only about 1/3 of representatives do.

I was surprised when I heard this stat earlier this week myself, but I have seen it repeated on a number of sites (granted, no official counts worth siting, however).

Further, let's look at presidents...

Obama - Lawyer
GWB - Business
Clinton - Lawyer
GHWB - Business/Spook
Reagan - Entertainment
Carter - Military
Ford - Military/Lawyer/Athletics
Nixon - Lawyer

It looks like the trend is law for one party, business for the other party (this trend is continued this cycle).

Dude, what????

The whole purpose of insurance is to spread the risk. The woman, presumably, was hurt. Get her med bills paid for and move fucking on.

If that is all she wanted, I would have no problems at all. But the bitch is suing for $150,000 and extra for pain and suffering. Plus, she is alleging that the kid made his errant throw on purpose.

As a correction, she's not suing the league. She's suing the KID.

Plus, the ****'s husband is suing as well. I hope they both develop incurable diseases and die early.

NO.

She was at a Little League game, for goodness sake. There is a presumption of risk. Unless there was malice or intent, stuff like this happens. There is a cost for every additional nanny state lawsuit like this and regulation that is out there, and each one adds to the toll, and eventually more and more people come to the conclusion that it isn't worth it to run a business or be involved in sports for kids.

She needs to pay her own damn medical bill and get hit with the reality of the ridiculous cost we all have for this stuff. Then she needs to pay the legal bill for the Little League for this absurd lawsuit. There needs to be a substantial cost to the plaintiff for frivolous lawsuits.

And vice versa. I suspect we share a strong Libertarian streak.

As a nation, we need to move away from attempts at overly complex socialized "solutions" to "spread risk" (historically they have never worked because there are too many non-producers feeding at the trough that are dependent on overly optimistic actuarial assumptions) and back to simpler notions like personal freedom and personal responsibility.
