should be an interesting case study of "brand management" regarding this

as puckdaddy points out ... canucks owner Francesco Aquilini > devout Catholic ... not shy about sharing his religious beliefs

how will he balance his own personal values/beliefs with the perception the ticket buying public may see surrounding the franchise he owns

also ... will he consult with one of the many young whores he slept with before he divorced his wife

:noidea:

I look forward to Mark Donnelly's pending facebook post and refusal to discuss it when interviewed by the media...

Why is it wrong that he's involved in this? I suppose I don't get it.

I don't get why you would sing 'O Canada' at this event in the first place?

using his pseudo celebrity to bring attention to the cause ... or himself ... or both

at least he and the cause didnt use a canucks name or logo this time around

ie Kirmac Collision commercials first came out on tv with him called "Vancouver Canucks anthem singer" ... edited to "Anthem singer"

by his position, and marketing of himself for other commercials (hi, I'm Mark Donnelly, anthem singer of your Vancovuer Canucks. I buy my lumber at Rona*, and you should too).
he is by implication connecting the Canucks organization to a very controversial and polarizing matter that they may not necessarily want to be connected to.

* arbitrary example, I don't remember what he is flogging currently.

Did he introduce himself as "voice of the Canucks"? If he didn't good for him for standing up for his beliefs. Lord knows celebrities do it all of the time.

On the one hand, I applaud him for standing up for his beliefs. On the other hand, what a fucking idiot; not only are you a cult member, you've quite possibly said bye bye to about the best job a singer of your type could ever hope to acquire.

don't know, i wasn't there. If he did, he's an absolute fucking retard.
if he didn't, he is walking a very thin line.

he gained his celebrity, and continues to cash in on that celebrity, in connection with the Canucks.
he is now using that (Canuck caused and maintained) celebrity on a polarizing cause.

if you were the Canucks would you be happy with that?

He is a world renowned Opera singer as well, no?

If I was the Canucks, I would have an internal debate. I would prefer that he not touch such hot button issues, but I would also have a tough time jumping on him for standing up for something that he so heartily believes in. This is not like the KKK. It is an extreme anti-abortion group but I think that it is ignorant to call either side of that debate correct.

world renowned is a little generous.
he went from a music degree at UBC to singing the anthems in Scranton/Wilksbarre.
big break was coming home and singing for the Canucks - absolutely.

he has put the team in a tough spot, because if he is reprimanded/fired for taking his stand on this debate, then the Canucks are seen to be on the other side (baby murderers!!). If they do nothing, they are seen to side with him (r*pe-babies for everyone!!).
pretty shitty spot for Donnelly to put them in, unsolicited.

Left-wing celebs get away with imposing their beliefs on everyone...why not this guy?

So Canada's more pro-choice than the U.S.? Not surprised.

Don't like the trucks? Don't wanna see what you're supporting? Look the other way...it's what lots of Germans did about 70 yrs ago.
