My overall point was that the 2nd half of your statement was the NORM about 10-15 years prior to Burfict playing - and was talked about opening and celebrated. Shit, the 90-00's were some wild rides with guys on defense who consistently played well past the line. Romanowski, Lott, Taylor, and can we be a little real...James Harrison is in that group as well. It's no secret how dirty guys are in that pile, and to date some of that still continues - though not to the same degree.

Burfict's play in general was solid - and he likely would have gotten some more run if not for the bullseye he painted on his own back by not playing within the rules - but in a different era, he's an absolute stud that every team would herald.

And - to be honest - the full statement above comes across, intentionally or not, as My guys dirty stuff is OK, but your guys is not. Just because you decided for yourself what kind of dirty play is acceptable doesn't mean that others have to adhere to that same line of thinking. Burfict just had more opportunity because he played a position that hit people on every play...but dirty is dirty - and if we're going to get into the "levels" of how dirty something is...then we can agree on the premise that dirty is dirty...it's a matter of preference how much is tolerated.
I understood your point about Burfict playing in a different era... But as to the levels of dirty... There's definitely a line in the sand there IMO. I'm not refuting that Hines' hits weren't dirty. But he wasn't doin any of that post-whistle BS. That's where I take exception.

Willie Anderson - Denied again.

Shame. Dude is 100% a HOF guy.
PREACH PREACHUH. Anderson is overdue.

Curious why they didn't put an OL in this class with the log jam they still have. It took Alan Faneca several years of being snubbed before finally getting in. Seems like Anderson is following that same momentum path where he advances to a higher round of voting every year before finally getting in.

Burfcit would have been the same guy on any other team. He would have found other teams to want to play dirty against. And he still would have let his 0.10 cent head get in the way of winning games.

He was never going to sniff the HOF.

yep

bad take for sure.

Bengals historically draft WR really well. I hope this is a tag and trade scenerio with Higgins. The market is WR-needy. Strike while the iron is hot.

Thank God CJ is an imbecile…..
It would be a hell of a lot better than trading premium picks for Fields. And he'd be available on league minimum, since any deal he would sign would have to exceed the $40 million that the Broncos still owe him to actually earn him anything.

When it comes to the FA route, he's competitive at the top of that crop, and no one can hold a candle to him moneyball-wise.

If the Steelers sign him, I’ll do a jack knife into the Allegheny River……

I just don't have any problem with it. Don't see the downside. No loss of draft picks to get him, can get him on vet minimum.

Not like the Steelers would be passing up another FA QB who would become their franchise player. QB isn't the difference between a championship or not in this situation. So, why not? And, I'd rather they focus this draft on fixing the trenches, not rolling the dice on another iffy QB.

I really don't know what to make of Fields...I mean, from all I can tell (and it's not much because I don't follow him/or the Bears a ton) he's honestly not that great. Even when he's had time, he's struggled - big time.

I kind of wonder if he's not getting a huge OSU bump from CJ Stroud playing like he did this year...and teams are thinking that they can get something similar if he just gets a change of scenery....I'm not so sure that's the case, though....
