Willing to admit that I was wrong about Dunning. I was looking at his trajectory where he had a decent first year, but got worse last year. It seems like he really was hampered by an injury and now that they fixed his hip or whatever he looks amazing. The Lance Lynn trade is looking better everyday.

I was right about Duran tho. The kid has it. He just looks like a ball player and seems to always make a positive impact on the game.

dunning needs to be in the rotation and Duran needs to be in the lineup everyday.

In regard to improving our bullpen Duran and Carter better not be traded or I’ll be pissed.

the elephant in the room is that Duran plays short stop better than Seager, but we can’t take the position away from a guy we’re paying 300+ million to.

That makes a lot of sense, but I'm just not sure if Bochy would do that to a veteran. Of course, we have a few weeks to go before that decision has to be made and who knows what else develops between now and then. If Heaney stinks it up between now and then the decision would be easy. If he keeps having good starts with a clunker thrown in every now and then, Bochy would have a tougher decision. Then there is the other side, how will Dunning pitch over the next few weeks. Will it be more of the same or does he throw in a clunker or two as well?

I wonder if Heaney could be traded in a few weeks to a team desperate for a starter, but with ample bullpen depth to trade some of that depth for Heaney.

You never know what Bochy might do, but in this case he would be benching a veteran for a veteran, since Dunning has pitched close to 350 innings in the bigs (I was actually surprised to see it was that much). Like you said, a bad game or two from Dunning or a couple more really good ones from Heaney could alter the conversation, but right now Dunning is pitching like 2022 Perez and I just don't see how, if that continues, we can afford to take him out of the rotation.
Maybe Heaney could be a valuable trade asset, like you suggest. Would like to first give him a shot to close before trading him, though. What if he could be "the guy" there?

Two of the four positions he plays are manned by guys who almost never get days off so that might not work out.

If Duran plays 105 of the remaining 120 games, I would imagine 90 of them will be in either LF or DH and 10 or so would be at 3B.

I would imagine most know that 6 man rotations almost never survive more than a time or two through a rotation. That and putting a big fat guy at goalie are often touted by fans but don't work in reality. Lol

Then we need to hang on to Heaney and not trade him away. One thing CY did right in the offseason was take into account how starters can and will get injured. If Dunning stays in the rotation when deGrom returns, then moving Heaney to the pen is more sensible than trading him. That way, if another starter has to miss any time, Heaney can go right back in.

i'm back after a long absence.
i figure that they return Seager to the active roster today or tomorrow and that he will be at DH or Shortstop for the first couple of weeks rotating with Duran. after that we will see. someone will have to go down and the logical one is Huff although i'd rather they release Miller.
degrom probably back around the 24th or 25th so that's another roster spot to clear so either Barlow or Hernandez
Garver back around the 1st week of June so that's another roster spot to open. id Huff goes down for Seager and the Rangers won't DFA Miller the only one left would be Smith to get him playing time at AAA
