Hello everybody, I want to see if we can come up with our own college football playoff system. Apparently the college football big wigs cannot agree on a playoff format. Lets see if we're can do it for them.
Here are your options:
5 teams, straight up - The top 5 ranked teams gets in. You either give the #1 seed a bye or the top 3 seeds a bye.
6 teams, straight up - The top 6 ranked teams gets in. Top 2 seeds gets the bye.
8 teams, straight up - The top 8 ranked teams gets in. No byes.
8 teams, P5 autobid - 8 teams total. Conference champions from the ACC, Big-10, Big-12, Pac-12 and SEC gets an automatic playoff berth, regardless of record or ranking position. You believe winning a major conference championship deserves a playoff spot.
8 teams, P5 + best G5 - 8 teams total. The 5 major conference champions gets in, along with the "best" Group of Five conference champion.
8 teams, best 5 champs gets in - 8 teams. The top 5 highest ranked conference champions automatically gets in.
10 teams, straight up - The top 10 highest ranked teams gets in. The top 6 highest ranked teams gets a bye. #7 plays #10. #8 plays #9.
10 teams, P5 autobid + best G5 champ - 10 teams. The 5 major conference champions gets in, along with the "best" Group of Five conference champion.
12 teams, P5 autobid + best G5 champ - 12 teams. The 5 major conference champions gets in, along with the "best" Group of Five conference champion.
12 teams, best 6 champs gets in - 12 teams. The top 6 highest ranked conference champions automatically gets in.
16 teams, best 8 conference champs get in - 16 teams. Top 8 highest ranked conference champions automatically gets in.
16 teams, all conference champions gets in - 16 teams. All conference champions gets in.
Please pick 2 options you like the best.
